I'm trying to buy this R7800 for the well respected support it has from dd-wrt and users here. When I try to find one it's quite hard to find an available unit. When I do try and search for one, say 'Netgear ac2600', I find you don't see that the model number of a AC2600 is actually labelled as R7800. I believe I've seen some other lower R7xxx models that have the AC2600 label on it as well in descriptions.

Does anyone know if getting an AC2600 Netgear unit (when is doesn't specifically say R7800 in the description) that it is really the R7800 model?

Going by AC2600 you may wind up with an R7450 (which is MediaTek, and also supported). Most R7800 listings will say that it is an R7800 or show the label on the underside to verify that I have seen. I nearly snagged a half dozen more R7800s the other day off eBay.

Wow - I don’t know what’s wrong with me. Should have checked there as well. Will definitely get one from there. Thanks for heads up on the 7450. I want a better machine that will get me as close to my ISP’s speed as possible and I think this is hopefully the machine to do it!
