So I did a bit of searching and reading on this issue and it seems to be an issue that has been around for a long time (see links below)

I have 3 EA6900, two that are 1.1 version and one that is first gen 1 version. I use the gen one for experimenting before installing anything on my two 1.1

I have CFE 1.3.0.7 installed on all 3 EA6900s, but I did try rolling my version 1 router back to 1.0.2.1 CFE to see if that would make any dif and it did not.

The USB 3.0 port works fine on FreshTomotate, Xvortex or Asus firmware. It is only on dd-wrt that it does not work.
