Any nightly build users on the R9000 using HT40 mode and QAM 256 notice that QAM 256 has disappeared from the gui and the R9000 will only operate at 600mbps now?

I am trying to track down as of when this went away....
Running 47839 nightly and don't see qam 256 on the R9000 anymore....

Checking what's up later tonight when I have more time to really look look and load back older builds. Not sure if the R7800 lost qam256 option or not...also will look later tonight.

In other news, I scored 2xR9000's on ebay and I'm back on the R9000 as a daily driver.... rolling the dice on wifi radios again (Weeeeeee)...

I got both hardware revisons now too, FCC ID PHY316 and the newer PHY317 which has no bluetooth...maybe a different CM/ODM made the PHY317 version too?

Now I can really test things out and see if AD mode works in dd-wrt!

Narrowed it down.... Somewhere between 47481 (has qam256 option) and 47581 (does not have the option) the option goes away on the R9000... Can't play anymore tonight...will let BS know.

Some features should be 'silent'. If the chipset supports it, enable it by default, don't have an option to turn it on or off. If the reasoning behind having these selections is primarily due to client compatibility, then I get it... but...

found the build range between 47510 (has the option) and 47525 does not have the option...

MRJCD, mind testing 47510 to see if re-appears?
then either 47523 or 47525 will have it missing.

Interestingly, if it was enabled on 41510, it will persist on in newer builds until a nvram reset...so...not sure what the culprit it, but qam is still appearing on R7800's so this is a bug and not an intentional feature removal...

Okay, so I narrowed down the bug to something having to do with the feature being disabled by default...

If you perform a factory reset or a clean installation on builds newer than 47510 you will not see qam256 as an option.
However, if it was turned on prior to 47510 you will continue to see the option available until you disable qam256 and then the option will disappear from the GUI and you will not be able to re-enable it.

I have not confirmed if this is also happening on the r7800's....

But, I'm going to file a ticket anyway which points back to this specific thread.

I reported this issue on bulid 47692 coming from 47171 on a R7800, nvram erase was done too.

Thanks all for confirming this bug/issue.

Edit:

TurboQAM can also be easily enabled via an nvram variable - in case someone doesn't want to wait for a new firmware build

Thanks again that works!

Well... The RT-AC68U has TurboQAM support also and it has gone missing, so lets see if that change fixes it.

In fact I notice, that since I reset the router, many things just disappeared that are supported, like ram overclocking is also now non existent.

TBH I blame these on the excessive sour-cabbage juice BS drinks.

=(

However any yous EA8500 peoples watching the commands would be
Code:
nvram set wlan0_turbo_qam=1
nvram commit
and do a reboot for it to show in the webif Twisted Evil

EDIT:
AND ../Status_Wireless.asp will show a rate of 800 rather than its 600 Razz

Do those commands also work for an r9000? My 2.4ghz always says connected at 600m and not 800m Sad my build is 46885 dated 6/21/2021. Has there been any performance or feature improvements since?

Also I’ve always wanted to know, if running with 256qam enabled, does it increase the 2.4ghz radio/networks load capacity or increase its ability to handle more simultaneous traffic from more than one user or process?
