I have an Netgear R7000 with Firmware: DD-WRT v3.0-r44715 std (11/03/20) installed. I have wireguard configured on it.

Can I backup and restore settings if I upgrade to a later version as wireguard wasn't the easiest to get setup?

The whole upgrade to a later version seems to be iffy to keep settings as they are.

TIA

You can not backup and restore to a different build (well you can but that is useless).

If you reset you have to put in settings manually.

Whether you should reset is debatable if you were to come from a really old build e.g. > 2 years old I would always do it, in your case you might just upgrade and only reset when experiencing problems.

But a fresh start is perhaps a good idea.

Recent WireGuard can import conf file for very easy setup.

Anyway having screenshots etc as backup is always a good idea Smile

Ok then, secondary question.

Can a list of the oet contents suffice in setting those after an upgrade?

'nvram show | grep oet > oet.txt' and then using that to 'nvram set < oet.txt' work?

I can edit the oet.txt file to add 'nvram set' to each line but that seems like extra work.

that is really all I need to preserve, plus a couple of admin commands along with the usual ip range I use.

TIA

It is mostly done with nvram variables so yes you can download them and insert them again, there are scripts flying around to do that, I think easyddup also has that ability: https://forum.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=322503

But you can do it yourself Smile

Just don't forget to move oet.txt off the router before you flash, as flashing will reboot, and rebooting will wipe and reinitialize the file system.
