hi! regarding:
Code: | nvram set wl1.1_hwaddr=
nvram commit
|
i believe mac address setup changed over the years. i believe i have a router in which 2.4 and 5 GHz MACs were separated by 1 in the last byte when ddwrt was updated without settings reset for years. yet i believe when a reset was done, those same MACs became separated by 17 (0x11) in the last byte (5 GHz MAC changed by 16).
a possibility is that ddwrt manufacturer MAC readout was buggy. maybe ddwrt read same value for both interfaces, noticed, and incremented 5 GHz MAC by 1. other possibilities exist, including me being completely mistaken. i might be able to test this in the future.
in any case, my suspicion is that the wl1.1_hwaddr clearing workaround might only be needed once after dirty upgrades from old ddwrt builds. |
