If the device and the BIOS support UEFI then there is a switch in the BIOS. (Legacy / UEFI )
It is not said that UEFI is preconfigured

Normal AMI Bios, looks the same as on my old PC

Gotcha, well I was able to boot into a linux install disk using EFI (in fact it defaulted to this).

Regardless, I have no interest in trying to boot DD-WRT using UEFI.

The issue of low transfer speeds persist. For sanity's sake I ran a speedtest directly from the modem and got a healthy-ish 940/940.

Running the inbuilt speed test from dd-wrt gives a paltry 200/200 or similar, if it can even reliably perform the test.

Now I'm getting packet loss on some speedtests.

This reflects with some of the results I've seen where the speed will spike and then quickly drop (TCP packet control nuking transmission to account for packet loss).

Only a BIOS update started this, although I have since re-flashed dd-wrt onto the drive and switched back to coreboot.
