Hi.
When I try to flash a new CFE via Putty or SSH I am unable to unlock mtd0. It says there is no such file or directory but I have verified that it is there. Is there a way I can unlock it so I can write to it? If not, can you suggest a workaround?
If I am not mistaken, that debug message is an anomaly and you should disregard it. I presume you have edited the new CFE properly. @egc has an EA6900 and has the XWRT-Vortex CFE, he should be able to guide you much further than I. _________________ "Life is but a fleeting moment, a vapor that vanishes quickly; All is vanity"

what is the output of 'cat /proc/mtd'? And I'm thinking you should do a mtd unlock /dev/mtd0 ... and if that still balks, I refer to my previous comment regarding debug messages... _________________ "Life is but a fleeting moment, a vapor that vanishes quickly; All is vanity"

I was writing you back to tell you that I had previously read the part about ignoring the error and trying to write it anyway but no joy. But before I could finish I remembered another post that advised using different syntax and tried that. No joy there either, and now my pings are only returning 100s, and I'm trying to flash the old firmware via tftp hoping that will cause it to reboot.
To answer your cat /proc/mtd question...I didn't see it before trying to write the CFE again, but I think that was what I used to verify that mtd0 did exist.
