Afternoon all,
Had BT full fibre 900 installed yesterday, all working fine with the supplied BT SmartHub 2 router.
Ideally, would like to replace with my own Netgear R9000, have latest DD-WRT installed, and all working fine with previous ISP (TalkTalk) via FTTC.
Just wondering if anyone has been successful in getting the R9000 working with BT FTTP ?, and if so - anything special/specific which needs to be configured ?
Thanks, Vaughn.

my experience with BT was not great but I successfully replaced their Hub 5 with my DDWRT router...
all i had to do was to transfer connection details to DDWRT router...but in my case i had a DSL modem and HUB 5...
The wan interface was PPPoE with username and password, no idea what is yours...ATM
By that time BT had no additional requirements like WAN tagging, MAC cloning or anything else...swapping the routers was easy..
few things to consider before you take any action.
DDWRT router must have a different IP address than your modem
and to get the full speed of 900Mibit you may need some additional settings..especially if you use WiFi have a look at the forum stickies for hot to set up your wifi correctly
as you said last firmware... the current last is 47618...
make sure you are on it... _________________ Atheros

I would love to find out if BT FTTP requires VLAN and WAN tagging.
I've tried MAC cloning, obtained BTSH2 MAC from the router control panel, didn't seem to do anything.
I've set my R9000 as 192.168.1.1, you don't seem to have a modem with BT FTTP, they install an ONT which has an input of fibre cable, and ethernet as an output - which in turn connects to the 'Wan / Internet' connection on the router, I don't believe the ONT has an IP address which is accessible by me.
There is a 'LAN' light which is lit up when connected to the BTSH2, and the same light is lit up when connected to my R9000, meaning I'm part way there I hope.
I suspect all that is needed is some R9000/DD-WRT router configuration, but information is thin on the ground as to what needs to be set as what
also there is a chance PPPoE to be broken on R9000,
sadly my R9000 is away from my ISP that runs PPPoE to test it...
best bet is, you call BT and ask for their WAN interface required...(they ware not that helpful in the past) _________________ Atheros

is your PON modem in bridge mode (it should be) if you need to replace your BT router...
my other ISP that provides fiber and provides PON modem requires WAN tag PPPoE ID 204, so call BT and ask what they need and before rising a ticket eliminate/explore any ISP side option...
when rising a ticket provide as much info as possible, more details, more chances to be solved...
what is the current BT router set up...regarding PPPoE settings...IP, pppoe type mac and ect. dont know what else could play role
as i said i was using PPPoE via my 1043v2 was rock solid...
I can have a look and find my old PPPoE set up with BT from my database later...will tell you what do you need for it...if that would help _________________ Atheros

Uhm, how did those get disabled without human intervention? Perhaps we should know which build you're on? Perhaps we should verify this is still a problem on 47618?
Not sure how they got disabled, I have tried to re-enable - but they won't re-enable singularly or together. Not sure if it's something to do with having to use PPPoE Dual ?
Router is on latest build v47618 for sure, I check for updates every week
Am happy to run any tests/diagnostics, as I would really like to keep my R9000, but am also happy to buy a DD-WRT router which is supported more fully.
To change the appropriate variables, you would use nvram set:
Code:
nvram set auth_dnsmasq=1
nvram set dns_dnsmasq=1
nvram commit
reboot
This may be part of what "breaks" with PPPoE? The things we find in the process of troubleshooting... I have emailed BrainSlayer about this to see if there is something broken causing this or what. _________________ "Life is but a fleeting moment, a vapor that vanishes quickly; All is vanity"

Am thinking of replacing my R9000 with another DD-WRT router, what router would you guys recommend ?, looking at spending a maximum of £400
Or can anyone advise of a possible way to resolve issues with existing R9000.
yep try anything before sell your R9000 its a great unit...
the next one down is R7800 (the DDWRT flagship) or XR 500 (reboxed R7800)
or XR700 as reboxed R9000...
p.s. well.... i fiddled with my R9000 pppoe and pppoe dual...
pppoe behaves normally, while selecting pppoe dual turns off
Use DNSMasq for DNS
DHCP-Authoritative
for a reason as its suppose to fetch the dhcp and dns from the isp, and you'd need to turn auto DHCP inside the pppoe advanced than click save apply to be able to activate those 2 from above..
But all works as it should regarding selecting settings....
now vatovey to exclude misconfiguration please let us know witch settings do you use
while configuring pppoe, as well witch when you tried pppoe dual...just dont share username and pass _________________ Atheros
