Hi there, so, I did manage to update the modem, but now I have a worse issue.

Ive tried admin/admin which is Linksys default, ive tried root/no pass, root/admin

I cannot get it to accept any of them at all,the firmware works, when I first goto 192.168.1.1 I get to the DD WRT main page, but when I click on any section to browse the settings, it asks me for a u/p and then wont accept anything.

Im using dd-wrt.v24-44715_NEWD-2_K3.x_mega-e900.bin this firmware, can anyone tell me what u/p might work for this? Or if not, how can I get back to my original settings? The documentation says root/ no pass.

Any help would be appreciated.

The default username is root and the default password is admin (from v23 SP1). Some earlier versions of DD-WRT did not require a username.

Did you try resetting the router?

Doesnt work. I posted images of what it looks like, but root/admin doesnt work, root/no pass doesnt work, admin/admin doesnt work.

Blank fields dont work, I cant seem to get it to take anything. And now I cant get it off the modem again, 30/30/30 didnt work either. And yes, I have reset quite a few times because after a few attempts it locks me out.

I then tried 30/30/30 to get it back to default and that didnt work either so im kind of stuck.

I don't own a Linksys router. Following was found via Google Search:

Linksys DD-WRT Router Login and Password
https://modemly.com/Linksys-DD-WRT-router-setup#reset
Code:
Linksys DD-WRT Router Reset instructions
How to Reset the Linksys DD-WRT Router To Factory Default

To reset Linksys DD-WRT router,

Turn on the Linksys DD-WRT router
Look for the reset button. Few routers have a tiny hole and few others have a reset button.
Press the Factory reset button with a straightened paperclip pin or something that gets through the tiny hole, and hold it for about 15 seconds! (till you see all the lights flashing)
The Linksys DD-WRT router will reboot automatically. the unit has been reset and is ready to use. You can start from Step 1 in this guide to set it up.

Doesn't work either, basically the router is dead as far as I can tell, it wont accept any combinations of u/p and I cannot get the DD WRT firmware off it again.

Should take this modem off the supported list because it really doesn't work, this was brand new boxed modem with no configurations at all, so the firmware is definitely not good for this Modem.

Thanks for the help anyway, it was a cheap modem anyway, so im not overly fussed. Maybe the modem itself was bad, who knows.

@KnomadX unfortunately you are posting in the wrong forum and using an old and obsolete build.

Please read the forum guidelines with helpful pointers about how to research your router, where and what to download, where and how to post and many other helpful tips:
https://forum.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=324087

I will transfer this post to the appropriate forum.

Just hit the reset button and then you can set the username and password

Are you sure you entered the new password in the right places? You should've been greeted by a page to set username and password after flashing from stock. Please consider reading the link @egc posted as well as the applicable wikis and stickies and announcements.

After a factory reset (or a 30/30/30 reset), the dd-wrt user is "admin" and the password is whatever you choose.

Sometimes the router cache play tricks on us, so clearing the browser history (or loading while pressing F5) or using a different browser helps.

On the other hand, if by "original settings" you mean the original firmware, you can just flash it from the WebUI (after solving your current issue) or by tftp while rebooting the device.

Browser cache override is CTRL+F5; default webUI user is root and has been for quite a while. I always had more issues using admin for the webUI username, so I left it as root. People seem to make mistakes after first flash and setting the user/pass... and I don't think the reset button was broken on 44715.

Since Linksys and Netgear are owned by the same people now (have been for a while)the password might have reset to the password printed on the label on the back of the router. Worth a shot anyways I guess.

Best I could do to backout my comment. Sorry y'all

Hello,

My issue is the same as the above gentleman mentioned. I looked on your site

https://dd-wrt.com/support/router-database/?model=RT-N12_D

where I found this frimware offered

DD-WRT Broadcom Generic - NEWD K3X - Mega dd-wrt.v24-44715_NEWD-2_K3.x_mega.bin 2020-11-03 7,25 MB

After installing it my router starts but unfortunately it says it's a completely different router name and after resetting it doesn't ask for a new password and username but asks for a login from me which I don't know and I've tried everything possible I could find around the net. Most often it was "root/admin" but nothing. Now I don't know how to get other frimware on the router since it asks for credentials via WebUI and TELNET as well, and I have no idea what they might be.

Does anyone know how to get something other than this but without name and password because nobody knows them.

Thank you in advance for the answers.

The K3X build identifying it as a WRT54* is not a new nuance.

DD-WRT :: View Topic :: Asus Rt N12 D1 - SOLUTION - page 9

The K26 build identifies it as an RT-N12B*

DD-WRT :: View Topic :: Asus RT-N12 D1, ethernet issue.

The caveats of blind ports, even on Broadcom. I would advise to flash a more recent build (The router database is not updated).

https://download1.dd-wrt.com/dd-wrtv2/downloads/betas/2023/05-18-2023-r52596/broadcom_K3X/

But even before that, I suggest you read the device wiki, if you haven't already. It has specific steps for initial flash up to a K3X build.
