This is only good for routers that dont have it already pre-installed, which is not the situation here. Cool

in any case version 5.0.0 (forget the pre-git implication of instability it doesn't always apply.) is a major revision tick on the old semantic versioning system, yes these numbers have meanings. https://devopedia.org/semantic-versioning if you didn't know this already Wink

There are projects that use what appears to be semantic versioning, that dont understand or agree or follow this standard, but we dont care about just anyone shouting outside the sky is falling either.

So back ontopic about why the version are wrong, BS doesn't care, it works is all he cares, so unless someone submits a patch or cares to, it wont be fixed.

Take care now.

And used to be (not sure on practices these days), even numbers were favored over odd, i.e. 2.0.2 was "stable", while 2.0.1 was "not". This is why Linux 2.0 ended at 2.0.40, 2.2 ended at 2.2.26; not sure why 2.4 ended at 2.4.37.11, 2.6 LTS ended at 2.6.32.71 (although 2.6 mainline ended at 2.6.39.4, but still it should have ended at 2.6.40.x)... anyway, good ol' semantics. Toh-MAY-toh, toh-MAH-toh.

p.s. well their answer came out:

"It's up to OpenWrt guys, where tcpdump came from. https://github.com/openwrt/openwrt/tree/master/package/network/utils/tcpdump

We keep it in current state to make future sync easier."

so, for MIPS entware installation its up to OpenWRT... Razz

There is a limited alternative for routers with big and mega builds as tcpdump may be in big.

On the target router:
Code:
mkdir /tmp/tcpdump

copy from the big router to /tmp/tcpdump directory:
Code:
/usr/sbin/tcpdump
/usr/lib/libpcap.so*
/usr/lib/libsfbpf.so.0
/usr/lib/daq/daq_pcap.so

then
Code:
chmod a=rx /tmp/tcpdump/*
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=${LD_LIBRARY_PATH}:/tmp/tcpdump
/tmp/tcpdump/tcpdump

Tested with dd-wrt.v24-47976_NEWD-2_K3.x-{big,mega}-RT-N66U.trx

There is a way to extract from the build, but big was already installed on another same rev. router. Alternative: install big, save the above files, reinstall mega.

Things *not* tried:

Cheers,
