Asus AC68U/AC1900 (Tmobile) - Firmware: DD-WRT v3.0-r39960M kongac (06/08/19)

Is what I have currently. Been using kongs for who knows how long. However 2019 is too old to keep installed and need to finally update that. I know in my study here seems people switched to BS and some even dirty flashed without issues. So if anyone has some guidance to make this update smooth and stable.
I know I have quite a bit configured here and I don't want to lose my assigned ips and so but don't know if any tools have recently come out to have that for a cross upgrade.

Thanks in advance. Smile

hmm that build is too old and full of security issues..
we always advise, "the last build" Razz 47528 currently...
your best bet is, create a save file from the old build, in case if you need to go back to it...
than, copy/paste all router details on .txt file or export pages via browser to pdf...update, reset and configure manually...
of course, you may do a dirty flash and if no issues just go on...just do not load old save file from a different builds...

I was hoping someone with this router would've responded, but nope. Here's the current release:

I updated from an even earlier kong build on the r7000 to the latest but did so clean. Well worth it for the performance gain.

In order to upgrade from such an old build you need to erase all settings to be on the safe side and reconfigure all your settings manually.
There is a way to avoid this by using easyddup, read up on it in the 'General' topic, but you need external storage in order to use it. If this doesn't appeal to you, make screen shots of all settings before erase & upgrade.
The latest build works well.

Thanks for the update. Yea I currently have an external HD hooked up for samba and Nas. That tool able to work there or would I need a separate partition?

Also good to hear that the performance is up and yes.. I worry about the security issues too. Just too many out there lately and I wonder what was the worst of them on this build but lately been having more issues on the 2.4ghz band connections. So maybe I'll make this my weekend project and just do everything fresh. Smile
