Hello,

I was looking for a replacement to a fried Netgear R7000 and I found out that Amazon is selling the NETGEAR Nighthawk R8000 AC3200 at 159,95 €. Seems like a good price.

They advertise it as NETGEAR Nighthawk R8000 AC3200 and then at the bottom of the page is shows as R8000-100PES.

Is this R8000-100PES the standard model or some unsupported variation not compatible with DD-WRT?

Here https://download1.dd-wrt.com/dd-wrtv2/downloads/betas/2021/10-04-2021-r47510/ I can only find a R8000 but not an R8000-100PES.

Anyone has experience with those devices? Can you clarify the model situation?

Thank you.

PES means European model and power supply, NAS is North Amerca

my guess PES is Pan European Supply , NAS North America Supply??
It is ususally not only power supply but also what FCC/regions are allowed

But it is a bit (alot) of guessing from my side

Interesting, I guess according to your opinion and this post:

https://community.netgear.com/t5/Nighthawk-WiFi-Routers/What-is-the-difference-between-the-R8000-and-the-R8000-100NAS/td-p/1186685

If I buy that router it should work just fine with the firmware above.

Thank you.

XR500 is way over budget. I was looking for a second hand Netgear R7800 but seems like I can't find one in Europe. R7000's are selling around 70-100€ + shipping on eBay seems overpriced.

For my needs an R7800 would be enough.

Thank you.

XR500 is a rebranded R7800; same hardware. But the cosmetics and price... well.

as the others advise, get a second hand R7800 best price/performance/ddwrt support router...you can check e-bay/amazon, many offers...

apart of that, R8000 is the same as R7000, same CPU, just x2 5Ghz radios...and its not the best build at all...

Are you sure you're not confusing the R8000 with the R8500?
