Upnp always been disabled here, always been buggy and vulnerable in multiple platforms.

Broadcom can suck my broadcom, I bought this router because I needed something to replace broken old router, on the advice of someone who deved asuswrt 3rd party and I will trust this person no more with closed source anything from this company or any other company who are shits towards OSS.

sorry about the rant.

Well, save and except the pre-compiled binary object files, the rest of the vanilla proprietary hnd code has plenty of patches available, if you know where to look. I've run the gamut on my FreshTomato PTBs and have had no vulnerabilities found to exploit. Can't say official builds share the same claim, though. Unfortunately, the Linux 2.6 kernel is now EOL all the way around as continued support via RHEL / CentOS 6 has ceased. Trying to backport anything that was left unpatched is a tedious mess.

I read the article. It does mention dd-wrt still be affected.

Has brainslayer patched those weaknesses?

Yes, indeed. I'm so glad for dd-wrt's existence. Third party firmware support has become a hard requirement for me in router purchases.

Also, is it just me or has dd-wrt matured to the point where new builds are mostly free of issues?

Most reports in new build threads indicate no major/new problems. I had the impression that even a few years ago upgrading to the latest build was much more of a hit or miss endeavor.
