Cannot get NAS to work. WD 1TB with one EXT3 partition seems to mount fine at tmp/mnt/sda_part1. Configured a public, read/write share to it in Samba. I can't see it on my LAN. I've been jacking with this a couple days now. Please help!
Edit: I am using a USB 3.0 (.1?) drive enclosure. The port on this router appears to USB 2.0. I've never seen that be a problem before. Is it in this case? If it were, I would think the drive wouldn't even mount.

That build would probably work fine with WinXP, maybe Vista or 7 (if you're lucky). What are the min/max smb protocol choices? I would consider upgrading to the current release, which is presently 47495.
All of my computers are Windows 10 Pro x64 except for one XP Pro x32 machine (which I haven't tried). I just tried my android phone and it sees it. WTF? I don't see any smb protocol choices.
This router came with ddWRT installed, which is one of the reasons I bought it in the first place all those years ago. (Saved me the trouble of doing it.) I checked before I started this and the router said I had the latest firmware. I'll try installing the version you posted and report back. Thanks.

Even the "official" Buffalo DD-WRT listed has a version from 2018 on their website. I don't know what the relationship is or where, rather currently, but I have noticed that they do not keep up with mainstream releases from DD-WRT official whatsoever. _________________ "Life is but a fleeting moment, a vapor that vanishes quickly; All is vanity"

I should have expected that. I was looking next at installing a newer version of Samba on the router. Long past time to quit screwing around and implement this whole thing on a dedicated Linux platform. I'll let you know if the firmware upgrade fixes this one. Thanks.
Updated the ddWRT firmware. Still no NAS. (Don't see it on my android phone either.) Strangely, the router said the partition was formatted ext4. GParted said it was ext3, which is how I formatted it. Anyway, I reformatted it Fat32 and it mounts fine. But still no NAS.
Forgive my ignorance. If you mean a password/username to log in to the router, it has them. If you mean under NAT --> File Sharing, I tried that. I can't even see the device on the LAN, so what good is a username/password?
I can't remember if there were any defaults there. Regardless, it didn't work. I tried "Data1" and "Workgroup" but that didn't work either. Neither does the config shown.

There is also that. Thanks for catching that, @bushant. At least you catch where I miss without chastising me Or rather, reiterate what I alluded to earlier in the thread _________________ "Life is but a fleeting moment, a vapor that vanishes quickly; All is vanity"
