I've just installed the DD-wrt v3.0-build 44715 in my WZR-1750DHP2. It works, very happy.

However, got surprised not finding the option for WPA3 in the Wifi security options, because it was present when installed in my TP-link Archer C7 (same DD-WRT version)

After some research in the forum, it seems like the broadcom drivers for the WZR-1750 are propietary, that may be the reason why WPA3 is not implemented...

Just to be sure, any chance to see WPA3 implemented in the WZR-1750, or not?

As the WRZ-1750 has plenty of ram, and a double core cpu, it would be a nice option for future proof router, but...

Cheers

You are using not the latest build in fact it is obsolete and has security issues.

Read the forum guidelines about where and what to download and a lot of other useful pointers:
https://forum.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=324087

As far as I know WPA3 is not supported on Broadcom and as drivers are closed source it is up to Broadcom. DDWRT cannot do much about this (sort of).

Sure thank you. I read it.

As I'm working on a Japanese model of the WZR-1750DHP2, I was reading the switching process in Japanese from a Japanese site.

Already at the limit of my capabilities in Japanese characters, in a first step, I didn't want to add fuzzyness or to brick the router while choosing the wrong firmware not fitting the architecture.
Broadcom, ARM or Mips... etc...
One letter misreading in the CPU naming, and eventually the architecture could be completly different.
A bit too much unease for me at that moment.

So even if it is not the last/best version, at least it fits the CPU architure and lowered the "bricking" occurence possibilty.

I'll follow your recommend later on. Thanks.

Thank you. You confirm what I was afraid to hear.

Effectively, trying to grab informations here and there, it seemed that the "Broadcom" support/update on their Wifi chips is all dependant from themself and their "close source" code.

Maybe should we be already thanksful that DD-wrt can make Wifi work on broadcom equiped routers.
It's already a miracle.

So concerning updates, if Broadcom doesn't move on, it seems dead.

Too bad for such a piece of hardware.

P.S. On the routers supported list, I saw that a lot of ASUS router uses Broadcom wifi NIC as well, all these router without WPA3 support too?

Indeed I favor Atheros/Qualcomm.

best bet/support/quality/performance/price
Netgear 7800

do in mind WPA3 is not WPA2 compatible..so you'd need client that support it...too
so, far the most common use(that i know), of wpa3 on DDWRT is to connect router to router...
if you have security paranoia than radius server might help you as more secure standard...

With 10K posts and such a broad background of knowledge, Im confidently sure you have all the capabilities to find it for yourself...as i clue use Atheros platform...as obviously Broadcom doesn't support WPA3 yet...

In other words, you cannot back up your claim, whatsoever. You should keep in mind that whatever you claim, you should provide proof of concept and not expect people to research it. I do not care what the rules and guidelines say pertaining to this. It's just better etiquette and more professional to do the right thing instead of being arrogant or put people off. But since you wish to go there, so far I find only you even claiming this use of WPA3:

https://forum.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=328849

So, again... where are all the reports of this concept?

my only try in the past (as i didn't have any client) was router to router....haven't tried since than, you can do the experiment and connect the dots, as im too busy with my day... comprende...

So, *your* most common use not the community at large. Here's a tip: "so far, my most common use of wpa3 on DDWRT is to connect router to router on Atheros, which supports this encryption" would've been a much better bit of information. You could have been specific on router model and build, too.

I use WPA3 on all my devices... ios and android both support and Linux machines do as well... In fact I did a survey of wireless devices and my access points are the only ones with WPA3 everyone else is still using WPA2...

Is it available on your Buffalo WZR-1750DHP?

No it is not ... sorry to confuse the issue and the WZR-1750DHP is running: DD-WRT v3.0-r47305 std (09/03/21) and only has WPA2

The one that does have WPA3 is an Atheros a Dlink DIR-825 Rev B1.

Once again sorry for confusing the issue, that is what happens when you have multiple setups/labs
