I have also XR500 with bad blocks. tryed build 51140 and 51043 but no luck. Tryed flashing via web downgrading stock firmware to 2.1.0.4 and lower and via tftp. any thoughts how to flash ddwrt to it?!
After reboot goes to bootloop. 2nd year has passed since i try to move aside from dumaos )) When saw post about bad blocks that can be avoided with this 2 firmwares was happy, but it didnt help me ((

Did you try the image linked earlier in this thread? Did you try the current release (51679] at present)? _________________ "The woods are lovely, dark and deep,

I was under impression that once DD-WRT is installed, subsequent flashes will handle bad blocks.
The problem is the initial flash, DumaOS to DD-WRT. It's a pity that @hebeda did not report back with respect to flashing newer versions *from* DD-WRT. Let's hope that @acidfx will.
So if flashing "factory-to-ddwrt_xr500_51042_working.img" works, and then flashing to the latest DD-WRT works as well, this would help any potential XR500 buyer (myself included).
Certainly not same router, or issue, but on R7800 my stock firmware was too old to accept newer DD-WRT builds.
I worked around this with an old factory-to-ddwrt but later had been shown it works with a newer stock firmware.
Worth a try, waste of time, newer stock, older ddwrt, web interface, tftp, flip a coin. (nmrpflash, tftpd32.452.zip)
lol . My situation is exactly the opposite. My xr500 router worked for me on DumaOS, from the box and everything suited me, especially since I read the forum and understood that installing dd-wrt on it is a difficult task if the blocks are broken. Moreover, I have cheaper routers for testing alternative firmware. So he worked for me, for 1.5 years without updates. But this week I was pulled to update DumaOS via the web. The firmware download and installation has begun. Then the Router rebooted and the red diode and white ones lit up. So I realized that the firmware was installed unsuccessfully. Thanks to the Install guide by egc, I started re-downloading Dumas OS. Versions: V2.1.0.4. V2.3.2.66. V2.3.2.134 - doesn't work either. I figured my router was broken. But then I decided to install dd-wrt r51887 and everything worked fine. I don't remember which version I installed from the box. Something like that _________________ Atheros
