Flushed WRT3200ACM with build r44715 (11/03/20). However, its switch mode doesn't work properly. I have Linksys EA2700 flushed with build r44715 (11/03/20) and configured Switch mode that is working perfect (it acts as a switch, also works as VPN and AP, and runs for ddns. My main router doesn't have VPN, and DDNS).

The main reference I used: https://wiki.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Switch for configuration switch mode.

I have 2 laptops, windows one wired to the WRT3200ACM, Linux one on the same network with it. Restart the WRT3200ACM dd-wrt that just enabled with switch mode (its: IP 192.168.1.250). Here are results:

If network cards stay as DHCP for laptops:
1. Neither of laptops can connect to WRT3200ACM through browsers
2. Neither of laptops can ping to the WRT3200ACM IP (Destination host unreachable).
3. The network card on the laptop connects to the WRT3200ACM can't get correct IP (169.254.77.50(Tentative), my network is 192.168.1.0/24):

If The network card on the laptop that connects to the WRT3200ACM is set to an static IP like 192.168.1.254, then this laptop can ping the WRT3200ACM with proper ping response, and can logon to WRT3200ACM though browser and make changes to it. However, the Linux laptop that not wired to the WRT3200ACM can NEVER ping it or connect to it though browser, whatever its network card is set as DHCP or static IP.

Some Diagnoses:
1. Restarted WRT3200ACM, nothing changed to above results
2. Turn off WRT3200ACM and start back, nothing changed to above results
3. Restarted both Laptops, nothing changed to above results
4. Turn off WRT3200ACM and start back, nothing changed to above results
5. Restarted both Laptops and Linksys WRT3200ACm, nothing changed to above results
6. Turn off both Laptops and Linksys WRT3200ACM and start them back, nothing changed to above results
7. Disable and then enable network card on laptop that wired into WRT3200ACM, nothing changed to above results

I would think possibly there is a bug for WRT3200ACM with build r44715 (11/03/20). Are there anyone be able to use switch mode for WRT3200ACM with build r44715 (11/03/20), and any other builds?

1) It is not optional to set the gateway on your WRT3200ACM (or EA2700) to the IP address of the upstream router on the Setup -> Basic Setup page.
2) The router must be set in router operating mode on the Setup -> Advanced Routing page.
3) The SPI firewall on Securty -> Firewall page *must* be disabled and only Filter Multicast be checked.
4) It is also not optional to enable NTP client on the Setup -> Basic Setup page.
5) Guess I need to compare it to the wired AP wiki and make some edits...

Thank you kernel-panic69 for your response.

1. On both WRT3200ACM and EA2700, gateway can't be empty, and are set properly (192.168.1.1).
2. NTP is set to the same as well for both WRT3200ACM and EA2700.
3. I haven't configured the router > Advanced Routing and SPI firewall for both. But EA2700 works for everything, but once WRT3200ACM is configured as switch mode, it can't be connected. Thus it will not work as other features, including DDNS, AP etc.
4. I will give a try on WRT3200ACM and EA2700 on router > Advanced Routing settings and SPI firewall later.

Tested on both WRT3200ACM and EA2700 (on the same dd-wrt build r44715)
1) Set to router in Setup -> Advanced Routing > operating mode
2) Disable SPI firewall on Security -> Firewall page, and checked only Filter Multicast

The results are:
1. The switch mode and other features still work on EA2700
2. The switch mode still doesn't work on WRT3200ACM: when a network cable from comes router is plugged to it; all other devices on the same network can't ping WRT3200ACM or open its webpage; any network card connect to it can't get proper DHCP IP; and it seems can't even go to internet as its NTP client can't get correct time.

Not sure why WRT3200ACM doesn't work for switch mode. I am trying to replace EA2700 with WRT3200ACM.

Post screenshots, no wider than 768 pixels. I can't see your screen from here, and there shouldn't be a reason this is broken; But you are running an older release, so no telling if it was already fixed.

After upgrading to latest build r47474 (2021-09-20 build), it works now. Thank you, kernel-panic69.

BTW, with the latest firmware for the WRT3200ACM, the switch mode works even I did not set to router in Setup -> Advanced Routing > operating mode and did not disable SPI firewall on Security -> Firewall page, and checked only Filter Multicast. What are the purpose for these two steps? Any impact if I do not set these 2 steps?

Those steps could be due to older releases and how things were handled, which may have changed. I would have to scour the forum and development commits to annotate in the wiki properly so there is no confusion. My opinion is, "better safe than sorry", but I could always figure out how to revert my wiki edits ... lol

I think the firewall turns "off" automatically if WAN is disabled so you do not have to do that yourself (so I just leave it enabled, in case I revert back to WAN gateway it is still on).

I also leave it in Gateway mode as Router mode has a habit of breaking things (it disables connection tracking among other things), but in this case it does not matter.

I still have connection tracking with a router in router mode. Interesting.
