I have a partially working WDR3600 router, which I want to set up as a AP. The IP of my FTTH/Modem is 192.168.18.1. so can I choose 192.168.18.30 as my dd-wrt router IP?

The General Questions forum is not for asking for router help

See announcements in that forum:
https://forum.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=54959
and the forum guidelines:
https://forum.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=324087

I will transfer this thread for you Smile

But you can give it any address inside the subnet but outside the DHCP scope and not used by a static lease and the router itself (of course the first 0 and the last 255, when a /24 subnet is used, are also not allowed.

I don't see a "Assign WAN Port to Switch " even after WAN is disabled. I am on DD-WRT v3.0-r47474 std"

Because that feature was removed and is not present in builds 46788 and newer.

Quote:
• "Assign WAN port to Switch" feature removed; likely no longer required.

None; it's no longer required. If the port doesn't work, however, it needs to be noted properly. I have not had a chance to verify on devices configured as wired APs / switches personally, but folks have said that it does work. Only one way to find out.

Mhm well I have seen routers here in the forum where it does not work.

the WAP configuration does not change the switch configuration and a WAN uplink then goes through the CPU.

better is not to connect the WAN port and make a LAN/LAN connection

Yes, I was unable to use the WAN port initially after the function was removed on an E4200v1, but I have not done a complete hard reset after some of the snafu's that happened which I used nvram set to override. I need to re-visit that to be sure; but you are correct that it does connect to the CPU. I think other code makes this negligible and doesn't require the function on some devices, perhaps. I would have to dig into the code to see for sure. We are still dealing with the aftermath of this and fixing the webUI display of ports.

Not working in my limited trial.
