I have 2 routers, 1 with connection to ISP and this one provides wifi, the 2nd router is dd-wrt (r7000 with v3.0-r47381) connected via lan port with static ip on same subnet. Static route setup in 1st router to IPTV provider's subnet to go via the ip address of the 2nd router (and therefore via vpn). vpn is connected ok with no errors on the status page. IPTV works perfectly well on wired pc or laptop. Tracert shows correct routing. Wifi connected laptop or phone iptv starts up ok and works for some seconds then just freezes. Tracert looks the same as wired pc. Speedtest of wired and wifi and nearly the same. I have tried with 2 different vpn providers with the same result.
So the question is what might cause this? Are there any settings to check/change that could help wifi traffic? Clearly wifi traffic does something different than wired but I cannot find a solution.
Yep, likely multicast. It's a shame that the individual would rather vilify than actually share the solution. Perhaps some of this information could be relevant, or not.

If I change the default gateway of the laptop to the ip address of router2 (the vpn router) then it works without freezing. So the problem seems to be caused by going to the 1st router then 2nd via static route and not just beacuse it is connected by wifi.
I tried with firewall completly off, and with Multicast to Unicast checked. Still same. Note, I am not using the WAN port, I have lan port connected to router1. My intention is to route only certain destinations via router2 with VPN.
