OK, so i tried a lower channel fo 5GHz, but again following entries showed up in dmesg and WiFi is gone.
mtk_soc_eth 1e100000.ethernet eth0: port 4 link down
mtk_soc_eth 1e100000.ethernet eth0: port 4 link up
Is it only me or are other DIR-882 users also havig similar problems?

I have the same problem. I gave up trying to rectify the issue and switched to an Asus RT-AC68U.

I have finally solved the problem by ... switching from DD-WRT to OpenWRT and problem is gone Smile

After reading your post, I did the same and have not experienced issues with OpenWRT. Its been a little over 3 weeks since the change.

I also have flaky wifi on my DIR-882: very slow and dropped connections.

I am using v3.0-r44715 std which I thought I read a report as working well.

If you don't have any issues, what version do you use?

Otherwise, those that switched to OpenWrt, what process did you use? Can you upgrade directly from the DD-WRT control panel administration page?

"I read the router database page for the device and looked no further for newer releases." Current release is 48432 and the router database is nothing more than a reference point per the disclaimer and wikis.

r47695 seems working well on mine. I tried some builds from r47942 to the latest r48432; either the chromecast had problem casting or my Brother printer became inaccessible on the network even it was connected. The syslog showed no error whatsoever.
