Hi guys,

I'm running x86 DD-WRT v3.0-r47182, and I am having problems trying to share some SATA internal hard disks using samba, since the drives just wont be mounted, even though they are recognized by the router.

I even tried mounting them manually using:

mkdir /tmp/mydisc
mount -o rw /dev/sdb1 /tmp/mydisc

but I get: mount: mounting /dev/sdb1 on /tmp/mydisc failed: Invalid argument

Any idea how to solve this one?

Transferred this to the Advanced networking forum

To get the best out of DDWRT and the forum read the forum guidelines with helpful pointers:

The NTFS driver is rather picky and flags a drive dirty when in doubt.

Run chkdsk and see if that helps

Try first connecting them to a Windows machine and run chkdsk.

This is on x86 hardware; So, Samba and NAS storage are now OpenVPN, Wireguard, and iptables, etc.? No, don't think so. Moving to x86 forum.

It really sounds like the NTFS driver is being picky. Are these drive's filesystem clean with no errors?

If your planning on keeping these drives connected on a DD-wrt system I would reformat them with EXT4 filesystem and avoid NTFS filesystem. You will gain better file transfer speeds and better protection against corruption if you do this. Windows and other OS can see NAS shares and write to them just fine.

You can you your favorite 3rd party formatting program to make this easy. Most of them do support EXT4 filesystem.
