Hello,

My ASUS RT-N13U-B1 is running "DD-WRT v3.0-r47040 std (07/12/21)".

Am trying to use the MAC Address filtering and am unclear what I'm missing.

On http://192.168.1.1/Wireless_MAC.asp:
- "Use Filter" is set to "Enable"
- "Filter Mode" is set to "Permit only clients listed to access the wireless network"

On http://192.168.1.1/WL_FilterTable-wl0.asp (launched through "Edit MAC Filter List" from above page) has a dozen MAC addresses to allow (whitelisted) and "Save"d.

After clicking "Save" and "Apply Settings" and even several rebooting, devices with MAC addresses *not* specified are still allowed to connect through the router.

Can you let me know what else to check?

Or is this a known bug?

I've not used this router in a long time.

Thanks.

Apparently, this seems to be an ongoing issue across the board:

https://svn.dd-wrt.com/ticket/6596

https://svn.dd-wrt.com/ticket/6540

https://svn.dd-wrt.com/ticket/6519

https://svn.dd-wrt.com/ticket/6168 (related?)

https://svn.dd-wrt.com/ticket/5490

https://svn.dd-wrt.com/ticket/5183

Please consider upgrading to the current release as of this reply post (47142) and testing with a recommended browser (Firefox ESR portable, Waterfox Classic, Pale Moon Portable) in private browsing mode with no extensions or add-ons loaded separate from your internet browsing. If you use Chromium-based browsers, disable pre-fetching and use Incognito mode with no extensions or add-ons loaded.

All of those tickets have not been updated with information from the current release, but I will contact BrainSlayer about this.

Thank you for the quick reply, @kernel-panic69.

Just upgraded to "DD-WRT v3.0-r47142 std (08/09/21)" (https://download1.dd-wrt.com/dd-wrtv2/downloads/betas/2021/08-09-2021-r47142/asus-rtn13ub1/Asus-RTN13UB1-webflash.bin).

Disabled pre-fetching of MSFT Edgium and used InPrivate (Incognito) to toggle "Use Filter" to "Disable" on http://192.168.1.1/Wireless_MAC.asp followed by "Save" and "Apply Settings" and, subsequently, toggled back to "Enable" and re-selecting "Permit only clients listed to access the wireless network" followed by "Save" and "Apply Settings".

MAC Address filtering still allows non-whitelisted devices to connect.

Also tried clearing out the whitelist (http://192.168.1.1/WL_FilterTable-wl0.asp) completely; devices can still wirelessly connect to the RT-N13U-B1 router.

Thanks.

Thanks for the feedback. I updated the tickets and sent an update to BrainSlayer. Probably won't see a response for several hours. He may respond to this thread and the tickets before I see his email reply.
