Anyone know if ver 5.6 is supported for the archer c7 from Amazon? I told a friend to order it but did not know there was a higher version than 5, but since it’s 5.6 I figged it might still be compatible.

I found this https://wiki.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Supported_Devices#TP-Link so I think the .x means any of those versions, the .x might just be minor changes.

Alozaros is correct, only way to know for sure is to try flashing it.

I can't seem to recall where I read this, so take it with a grain of salt...

v5.0 is built in China and V5.6 is built in Indonesia.
I can't find the specific forum where I read that...

But that's what I remember finding several months ago in a search.

As far as if it works... I don't believe there is any difference in the hardware and the same instructions apply to the 5.6 vs 5.0.

Last thing...make sure you check the bottom label for C7 vs. A7 because you must use different files for loading the firmware. The A7 has a different header file from the C7 version. Amazon almost exclusively will sell the A7 over the C7... so check the bottom label.

I would very much like to know the experience of him because I just bought 2 archers AC1750 v5

On the back label it says:
Model: Archer A7 (US) Ver.5.6

Shocked Shocked Shocked I thought it would be the C7 but it's an A7 I don't know if it's okay

A store had them in discount, just $20 because they are refurbished from the factory and buy 2 now obviously the 1st step is ddwrt and hopefully it is not AS PROBLEMATIC as the AC1750 V2 EU that had which lasted almost 1 year without being able to install the ddwrt

Any advice you have I thank you

Simply flash it. Then recover with a USB to TTL serial adapter, FT232 or CP2102 either TFTP or serial method.

Everyone should have this adapter. Also, if your router has TFTP recovery mode it may not be required at all.

Report successful flash in the appropriate build thread. Which version of DD-WRT did you flash? Is it too much to ask for people to be complete in their posts? Has the OP flashed a C7 v5.6? Or was it actually the A7 v5.6? This is why there is such a shitshow of information on this forum. Too many hijacks and confusion.

Maybe royitoroy needs own thread, but "c7 from Amazon" can be A7. TP Link Archer C7TP Link Archer A7v5!
OP never provided an Amazon link and it was a recommendation to a friend so who knows which model arrived.

That means nothing. The OP needs to respond to confirm it's an A7 and not C7 they are referring to. Not going to make any assumptions here and contribute to the malarkey. "Itsyaboy" is not "royitoroy".

OP is gone; again recommended it to a friend. It's not his router, and "c7 from Amazon" can be Amazon's A7.

Your answering for the OP and then continuing to push the point is noted; but not necessary. Rolling Eyes

Still no flash report in 47182 or any other build thread by @royitoroy. Random posts in non-build threads of successes do nothing to serve this community.
