Hi everyone. I'm having a problem with my DD WRT setup on a Netgear R7000. I was getting a hacker scanning cell phones through the router (and still am) so I upgraded the firmware from 2018 to 2020, changed the password and removed remote access. Unfortunately not I can't ping the printer and I really need to get it working again. Please help.

Specs:
Router ModelNetgear R7000
Firmware VersionDD-WRT v3.0-r44715 std (11/03/20)
Kernel VersionLinux 4.4.241 #1322 SMP Mon Nov 2 06:39:27 GMT 2020 armv7l

I see the printer but it doesn't look like all the connections are going through the router.

Sorry, I showed the wrong picture and connection above. It is this one:

88 Unknown 532 192.169.1.110 239.255.255.250

I can't ping it with the firewall turned off. I figure it's a router setting somewhere but am having no luck figuring it out.

Netgear R7000 is Broadcom, New Build - 07/12/2021 - r47040.

Running r47040, nvram erase && reboot manually reconfigure.

Printer Model? USB? Ethernet? WiFi? Power? Reset? Need input.

It's sending out via SSDP, but whether or not that is being blocked by DD-WRT or Windows is another story. You should be able to map it via IP address on any client on the LAN. I don't know of any printers that respond to ICMP.

Thanks Kern. Can I have a link on how I do the mapping?

Also is there any way to fix the security on this router to avoid the takeovers? Right now it is set up with two SSIDs. What can I implement without messing up the other people's access to videos etc.

I meant power cycle or reset your printer. Anyway, without r47040 afterward nvram erase && reboot ... Cool Arrow

Off-topic but where the heck is the button for /Status_Conntrack.asp

I can make it visible if I manualy add it to my webbrowser so it is there but no button that I can see??

To add a printer by IP address: https://kb.wisc.edu/smph/page.php?id=89176

I do not think that this has anything to do with DDWRT DDWRT is just acting as a switch in this case.

I forgot that sometimes using the manufacturer's driver download sometimes just works, too:

https://www.usa.canon.com/internet/portal/us/home/support/details/printers/color-laser/color-imageclass-mf743cdw/

I have had to re-install drivers before, but I believe the standard port for this one is 9100, if I haven't lost my mind.

I already tried reinstalling the Canon driver and that didn't work. It looks like a router problem.

If I clear the router RAM and do a reinstall and then restore a backup file will that affect the router RAM or it doesn't matter?

No, upgrade to r47040 first and do not reset. Wait some minutes for reboot then verify now running r47040.

Telnet as root to nvram erase && reboot. Wait some minutes then log into web interface set user/pass/pass.

Manually reconfigure from scratch. Do not restore an old configuration backup. Use a portable web browser.

I tried to telnet in to the router remotely on Wifi. Do I have to be plugged in? I can normally DD WRT in to manage it remotely.

Can I just do the 30/30/30 Hard reset with the WPS button? Is the Netgear R7000 considered an old router?

The R7000 is Broadcom ARM. You do NOT do a 30-30-30 reset on this device. All that is required is either a ~10 second reset button push while booted up, reset to factory defaults via DD-WRT webUI, or via telnet/ssh 'nvram erase && reboot'. If you did any kind of reset during upgrade or flashing, you have to set a new password to login to the router; the username for telnet or ssh is always root with the password you set for the webUI. #wemustrepeat #pogothread
