Downloads: (DD-WRT website) HTTPS & FTP (try another if a link does not work)

CLI Flash: 'cd /tmp' then 'wget {file URL}' (or 'curl -k {file URL} -o {file}') with http (not https) or ftp. Then 'write {file} linux'.

Repository: Trac SVN changelog since last build r47000 (GitHub mirror)

Notes:
OpenVPN 2.5.3: Guides, Server, PBR, Reverse PBR, Client (see second post), Kill Switch, update tips, scripts and more.
WireGuard 1.0.20210606/Tools: Guides, Client, Server, Advanced, PBR, KS, update tips, scripts & more. Thanks BS & egc!
• CVE-2019-14899 VPN fix (applicability depends on VPN setup) and GUI toggle since r41813.
Experimental build option for Broadcom 8MB+ K2.x devices (limited currently): broadcom_K3X_mipsel32r1
• Broadcom MIPS devices are now on kernel 4.4. • Support added for TP-Link Archer C8 v2 and v3.
SmartDNSMiniDLNA • Unbound 1.13.1 • CoovaChilli 1.6 • Tor 0.4.5.8 • OpenSSL 1.1.1k • Dnsmasq 2.85 • Privoxy 3.0.32
In-kernel Samba (ksmbd 3.3.9+): default min/max versions changed. • WSD updateANTFS/NTFS3 kernel mode driver++.
• Added swconfig support for Broadcom devices.
CVE-2020-26147, CVE-2020-24586, CVE-2020-24587 & CVE-2020-24588 (Fragattack) fixed.
• "Assign WAN port to Switch" feature removed to be reworked in a future release.

Issues, observations, and/or workarounds reported:
DNScrypt 1.95 can still be used in the GUI, but v2 (not compatible) requires Golang and thus Entware. #6246
WDS does not work on Broadcom ARM devices (only MIPS<->MIPS) & bridge modes on k4.4 devices may sometimes work
in some configurations for certain builds but are not supported by the bcmdhd driver. Use client or repeater instead.
VAPs not working at boot fixed for unbridged VAPs in 40562 - 40566. Effective startup commands discussion thread is here.
If start-up scripts do not work from USB add a delay, e.g. wait script or 'sleep 25'.
Broadcom ARM devices if 5 GHz channels are missing, via Telnet/SSH: 'nvram set brcm_unlock=1' 'nvram commit' 'reboot'
Show us your findings with steps to reproduce, configuration, output, logs and important information below!

Important:
• For issues provide applicable info: 'dmesg', 'cat /tmp/var/log/messages', syslog, klog, serial, strace, tcpdump, wireshark etc.
• Any firewall NAT or WAN issues, show output: 'iptables -vnL', 'iptables -t nat -vnL', 'iptables -t mangle -vnL' and /tmp/.ipt file.
• Search SVN tickets & discuss in forum before opening. Before reporting: reset & manually set up, not restore from a backup.
• Please include operating & wireless modes (e.g. Gateway, Router, AP, CB, WDS, Mesh) & relevant configuration information.

Router Model: Linksys EA6900 (XVortex CFE)

Firmware Version: DD-WRT v3.0-r47033 std (07/08/21)
Kernel Version: Linux 4.4.274 #3620 SMP Wed Jul 7 05:02:24 +07 2021 armv7l

Upgraded: DD-WRT v3.0-r47000 std (06/28/21) via telnet (update via GUI not possible because nvram is placed on linux partition and not linux2 partition due to Xvortex CFE)

Reset: Yes, before and after (Erase NVRAM and WPS reset)

Configuration: AP, DHCP server, 2,4GHz wireless running, 5GHz running, some static leases and some port range forwarding, SFE on, NVRAM size just over 32K (NVRAM size should not be a problem with the Xvortex CFE)

Status: Up and stable for 1 hour, excellent wireless speed and range
Errors: none so far

Thanks BrainSlayer!!

Status: Device stuck in reboot loop at first. Kernel Panic was given. Now working (still under test).
See putty.txt, serial output beginning after update.

EDIT device rebooted into working state, due to "reset after five failed reboots"
(tried to TFTP firmware and connected again to be greeted with Login prompt on serial connection.
Will not delete putty log, but need to further evaluate. Commencing tests!)

Samba is still NOT working, just like build 47000!!! Please advice what I could do to help.

I will cold-boot router later, and if that still could not fix it, then I am going back to build 46979!

Update:

Cold-boot didn't help. Going back to 46979.

I did some extra testing using Putty:

1. Telnet to port 443: Connection refused
2. Telnet to port 445: Putty was instantly closed
3. Telnet to port 137-139: Connection refused
4. Telnet to port 5355(WSDD2): Software connection aborted

Update 2:

So I went to my Fedora Linux virtual machine and installed samba-client and nmap. Here are some funny results:
Code:
# nmap 192.168.1.1
Starting Nmap 7.80 ( https://nmap.org ) at 2021-07-09 17:00 HKT
Nmap scan report for rt-n18u.xxxx.com (192.168.1.1)
Host is up (0.0022s latency).
Not shown: 995 closed ports
PORT     STATE SERVICE
22/tcp   open  ssh
53/tcp   open  domain
80/tcp   open  http
445/tcp  open  microsoft-ds
8200/tcp open  trivnet1
MAC Address: 38:2C:4A:65:09:F8 (Asustek Computer)

Nmap done: 1 IP address (1 host up) scanned in 0.43 seconds

No port listed for WSDD2, which is usually 5355/tcp!?

Code:

# smbclient -L rt-n18u
Enter SAMBA\root's password:
Anonymous login successful

        Sharename       Type      Comment
        ---------       ----      -------
        ipc$            IPC       IPC share
        text            Disk      Text
        music           Disk      Music
SMB1 disabled -- no workgroup available

I had "NT 1.0" selected as minimal protocol in Samba Server Settings. Weird!! It seemed that the kernel-mode Samba and WSDD2 were not responding to Windows only (both Windows 10 and Windows Server 2012). In addition, the Linux's smbclient could list DD-WRT's Samba public shares without entering username and password, unlike Windows! Really weird....

Code:
RT-N18U:/# ps ax | grep wsdd

I found that every time I restarted the kernel-mode Samba, /tmp/smb.conf would be overwritten. So I was unable to modify /tmp/smb.conf direclty to try things.

Please... where is the source smb.conf? How could I add custom settings into /tmp/smb.conf without it being overwritten?

I have a R7000 setup for Off-Site2 but not deployed since I have not been happy with the wifi performance on build 46979. Reading your report on build 47033 with excellent wireless speed and range. I updated the R7000 and also noticed much better wiifi performance. I did compare the wifi driver/firmware versions and they are the same for builds 46979 & 47033 so want changed, the kernel from 4.4.273 to 4.4.274 fixed it?

Thank you for your report!

Previous: original dd-wrt from 6/10/2021 later builds are bad for this Netgear
Mode: Internet gateway, WIFI AP, DNS server (dnsmasq)
Reset: Reboot only
Status: Working good on the newest build
Issues: Nothing significant. Internet and other services working good. Some warns in log.
Uptime: more than 7h

I'm update device via ssh from build 6/10/2021. Router work rather good. Weak WAN performance I'm solve this by OC main CPU temporarly. After ~24h of router work I'm back to stock frequency. I have 300+ mbit internet speed without problems. Thanks for fix DD-WRT for programmers.

I updated the R7000 and also noticed much better wiifi performance. I did compare the wifi driver/firmware versions and they are the same for builds 46979 & 47033 so want changed, the kernel from 4.4.273 to 4.4.274 fixed it?

Maybe this is related?

It doesn't reflect in the wifi firmware in dmesg...

R7000 r46979
Linux 4.4.273 #3499 SMP Mon Jun 21 02:36:17 +07 2021 armv7l
eth1: Broadcom BCM4360 802.11 Wireless Controller 7.14.164.18 (r692288)
eth2: Broadcom BCM4360 802.11 Wireless Controller 7.14.164.18 (r692288)

R7000 r47033
Linux 4.4.274 #3620 SMP Wed Jul 7 05:02:24 +07 2021 armv7l
eth1: Broadcom BCM4360 802.11 Wireless Controller 7.14.164.18 (r692288)
eth2: Broadcom BCM4360 802.11 Wireless Controller 7.14.164.18 (r692288)

It won't reflect there. Wi-fi firmware version is not the driver code, or more specifically, the driver version doesn't necessarily reflect any patches done to the driver in the source code, especially for another related driver. The only exception I know of is for Atheros currently, the firmware / driver versions do reflect the differences between vanilla and dd-wrt custom. Not having public or private access to the driver_repository / build server, the only thing I can speculate on is that it could be patches to the kernel itself along with whatever driver patches were done. We won't know for sure until the driver repository changes filter out to the public svn down the road...

Router/Version: Asus RT-N66R
File: dd-wrt.v24-47033_NEWD-2_K3.x-big-RT-N66U.trx
Kernel: Linux 4.4.274 #10527 Thu Jul 8 06:14:04 +07 2021 mips
Previous: dd-wrt.v24-46723_NEWD-2_K3.x-big-RT-N66U.trx
Reset: No
Mode: Gateway Router (with WiFi disabled; separate AP connected via LAN)
Status: All seems to be working so far Smile
Uptime: +6 hours
Temperatures: Not available [WiFi disabled]

Note: Updated via HTTP WebUI using Internet Explorer (version: 11.0.9600.20044) on a wired Win7 PC this time. As I've noticed that while using Firefox (version: 89.0.2)--liked I've been doing for previous updates for over a decade, the recently added 'HTTPS-Only Mode' security feature in FF has become increasingly troublesome for me to use during DD-WRT build updates. Thus, the switch to using Internet Explorer, and updating DD-WRT was without issue this time for me.
