Yesterday I went through auditing and adding to the LAN connected to my Orbi system. I needed some additional LAN ports to accommodate some extra devices, so I brought out an old ASUS-N10+ I had collecting dust. After learning the proper way to daisy chain (I was trying to use the WAN port at first.. duh ), I proceeded to set up the router. I turned off DHCP, turned off the wireless radio, and set the IP to a static address. It worked great and I was done.
But... I decided to upgrade the firmware. It's last firmware was from 2013. I installed "dd-wrt.v24-44715_NEWD-2_K2.6_mini_RT-N10PLUSD1.trx". It seemed to work, but I didn't notice it rebooting (not that I paid close attention). It's very odd now. The lan ports are working.. devices connected to it get IPs and function normally.
I can't see the device on my orbi (main) or the router connected to the orbi (it's chained through that). At all. I can't login to the console, assuming the IP is what i set for it.
This state persists when I connect the router directly to the cable, as well. In that case, it gets a 169.254.x.y number. It's not getting an IP.
I tried resetting it a couple of different methods I've read online, nothing has seemed to have brought it back where I could log in to it. It's bugging me because I'm a nerd . However, I have bought an 8 port unmanaged switch which is going to be superior to this setup in every way. a
Nonetheless, any ideas if this little guy could be salvaged? In two days I will throw it away or else it will haunt me
Recovery should be able to be done via restoration tool the same way all Asus routers are recoverable; Broadcoms have the mini CFE webserver if I am not mistaken...
Having said all that, I can find no wiki on the N12+, either variant, if a reset doesn't do it via button, webUI, or 'nvram erase && reboot', you may need to upgrade to a much newer release:
Thanks for the info. Attaching the model info. It is indeed a B1. Perhaps I didn't read that distinction somewhere .
I'll review some of the links you've attached and see if I can do anything. Since i have to bring the internet down, I usually wait until sleep time for most people. I think my kids would go without food before wifi...

You will want to look in the asus-rt-n10plus/ folder for firmware images if it is a B1. Don't know how you didn't brick it flashing Broadcom firmware to it Going to move this to the Ralink forum and hope you've come up with a solution to upgrade and continue using it. _________________ "Life is but a fleeting moment, a vapor that vanishes quickly; All is vanity"
