I lost my Juniper Netscreen SSG5 recently (it crashed and died) and picked up a $20 new WRT54GL. Used it years ago and surprised it is still around.
Flashed with DD-WRT and seems to be working well.

What I really really miss from the SSG5 was the ability to configure via command line. Being able to add 20 or more systems as static IPs, being able to save the configuration as a text file, etc.

Would there perhaps be a firmware that does that for the little Linksys 54GL? Maybe???

Alternately, any consumer routers that would do it.
Sure, I could pick up another SSG5 on the auction site, but it was a quite complex router to configure. The simplicity of DD-WRT or Tomato with those two capabilities would be a mighty firmware.

Thanks,

theoretically everything in dd-wrt that you configure from the web interface can also be configured from the command line by using nvram set commands.

Thanks. Soon as I can get ssh going, will try to figure out this nvram thing.
Got a feeling it might be a good way to brick the box.
