well i tried to use QoS on this unit in the past and realized as it has a single core CPU QoS is overkill, so i moved to R7000 and QoS was way better, than moved to R7800 QoS and happy days...now i don't use QoS at all, never had any need for it even when my R7800 has a lots of clients...
DDWRT has a default shaper for the WiFi anyway...
bear in mind 1043v3 has 8Mb of flash ram & 720mhz CPU and is for so called 'basic needs', as its lacking of some futures...QoS, VPN and ect are overkill for this unit
P.S. I just tried QoS on 1043v2 and its ok in fact its working even on slow settings 2mbit download 2 mbit upload just fine less than 1 mbit i used in the past but was not enough for my set up tested shaping at 10 mbit but it cannot handle more than 2 clients cpu goes dead, so my words from above do in mind wifi and some other services along with QoS makes this cpu to choke
