Hi

Can anyone tell me how to set the clock speed to 2.0Ghz on the R9000/XR700?
i came from R45229 and clock speed was set @ 2.0Ghz but updated to R46885 now @1.7Ghz, using GUI to set to 2000Mhz apply settings rebooted, the cpu clock shows @ 2.0Ghz in Ui but the nvram get clkfreq shows it still running at 1700Mhz so is this done with command line if so what's the commands please?
Foz

hmm, there must be a reason for that...i guess...??
The only thing that comes to my mind is, to have a look at sysctl GUI section and find CPU value of 1700 try to change it to 2000 if that is working...im away of my R7800 to test that, so its a blind shot...

or have a look at cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu*/cpufreq/ and change the value followed by nvram commit,
Do keep in mind, if there is a reason for BS, to slow down this CPU and you forced it back, it may interfere with something else and it may get funny...although there a 5 bad boots reset option, if that doesn't help in case of a 'shait', you may need TFTP or even serial.. Rolling Eyes "if router doesn't start at all.." Razz

also have a look at SVN, if there is something about..there must be...i guess

Very interesting. My UI shows 2000MHz, but nvram get clkfreq shows 1700. I wonder if the command line is returning a default value?

No improvement in OpenVPN client throughput for me so i think the actual clock speed is staying @1.7Ghz i may be wrong.

https://svn.dd-wrt.com/ticket/7330
seems it needs command line to set @2.0Ghz now from my understanding of the above ticket.
so next question is going to be how is this set with CLI?
would it be:
Code:

nvram get clkfreq
nvram set clkfreq=2000
nvram commit && reboot
or
echo userspace > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpufreq/policy0/scaling_governor
echo 2000 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpufreq/policy0/scaling_setspeed

or
echo userspace > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpufreq/policy0/scaling_governor
echo 2000000 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpufreq/policy0/scaling_setspeed

no ram speed is shown with nvram get clkfreq so assume no need to set ram speed anyone?

I have looked in the source code an I think this is sufficient:
Code:
nvram set overclocking=2000
nvram commit

This should result in
Quote:
echo userspace > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpufreq/policy0/scaling_governor
echo 2000000 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpufreq/policy0/scaling_setspeed

So you can check with
Code:
cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpufreq/policy0/scaling_governor
cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpufreq/policy0/scaling_setspeed
