I did an nvram erase in SSH before i setup the router for 46750. I also used the erase nvram function from bootloader web interface with the same results. I never use reset from Web GUI. After multiple tries the router was working as is should. Before always one WIFI interface was missing after different configuration steps. As I mentioned already before the behavior was kind of random.
Finally it was working and survived multiple reboots and the update to 46788. As mentioned this router is brand new and behaves similar to my 2017 one. After upgrading to 46836 the 2.4gHz WIFI interface disappeared again. The 2017 roter is now working as access point and for the moment both WIFI interfaces are working. Checking the NVRAM variables i can not see any ting wich causes the problem. I do configuration backups with a script to an USB stick and collect them from various builds. So i have an easy way to compare. But even reloading exactly the same working NVRAM content will make the WIFI work again?

@mj666: You may need to do a complete reset; if button or webUI reset results the same, then you need to do 'nvram erase' or 'mtd erase nvram' and reboot the router so the proper nvram variables are written. On your WAN port to switch function is not the same as it was, but I have not personally looked into it. On your RT-AC88Us, all 8 ports have *never* been visible in the webUI; don't know of any plans to change that at the moment.

Router: Buffalo WZR-1750DHP
Firmware: buffalo-wzr-1750dhp-webflash.bin (v3.0-r46836 std)
Kernel: Linux 4.4.269 #3273 SMP Tue Jun 1 03:15:06 +07 2021 armv7l
Status: Working
Reset: No
Notes on configuration:

    Media Network
    DNSMasq
    Port Forwarding
    DHCP reservation
    DNSSEC
    CTF -- CTF/FA

Errors:

    None

I like the new CTF feature, shows some difference, but still playing with it. Thanks!! Cool

Edit:
Flow acceleration (FA) caused inconsistent bandwidth, especially noticeable on sftp transfers through port forwarded address
CTF and/or SFE with just CTF on seems to be about the same, but at least the traffic is consistent and at expected rates
Therefore using SFE with CTF instead of above
