https://wiki.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Cellular_Phone/USB_Modem_as_WAN_connection

If it's an iPhone, I think there is already an option for WAN being tethered to an iPhone.

I have often wondered about trying this myself. Nice to see there is a wiki about it. However after reading it, I see that my build (44719) for the EA8500 doesn't include the required kernel modules (cdc_ether.ko and rndis_host.ko). Has anyone built these modules for the 8500 that I could fly in and insert?

insmod: cannot insert 'cdc_ether.ko': unknown symbol in module
insmod: cannot insert 'rndis_host.ko': unknown symbol in module

I am guessing these were built against a different kernel version. Thanks much for the effort. I will hold onto these and try again once I upgrade my dd-wrt on this router, which should be soon.
