kernel-panic69, thank you for the information.
I'll look into the Web-GUI switch persistence in a newer build.
What is the Web-GUI equivalent to: "vconfig add eth1 3"?

At startup, can I FORCE the router to initialize as if it has an internet connection?

I've encountered a bootup issue in the Dual-WAN: https://wiki.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Dual%2C_Triple_%28and_probably_quad%29_WAN_with_multiple_active_WAN_links_and_source_routing
At bootup, if "wan" is *NEVER* connected, then failover to "wan2" *NEVER* happens.

It appears that the problem is with the OS initializing the internet connection (as indicated by the WAN LED).

On bootup, if the "wan" cable is *NEVER* connected to the router, then the WAN LED remains OFF;
and the "wan2" port is ignored (no failover).
So the Dual-WAN will not operate if the WAN LED is OFF.

Plug/unplug the "wan" cable once, and the WAN LED turns ON and remains ON (even though the "wan" cable is unplugged).
Now, failover occurs, and the "wan2" port connects to the Internet.

Once the WAN LED turns ON, "wan" and "wan2" can be repeatedly plugged/unplugged, in any combination, and Dual-WAN failover/failback operates as expected.
So the WAN LED must be ON for Dual-WAN to operate.

Unfortunately, the only way I've found to turn ON the WAN LED is to plugin "wan" at least once.

So, at startup, how can I FORCE the router to temporarily act as if its WAN port is connected to the internet, even though it is not connected?
Alternately, at startup, can I FORCE the router to initialize as if it has an internet connection?

Edit:
I forgot to mention what I've already tried.
To FORCE the router to initialize internet connection, I've tried the following:
ifconfig vlan2 up
ifconfig vlan2 down
ifconfig vlan3 up
ifconfig vlan3 down
/jffs/scripts/wan/configroutes wan
/jffs/scripts/wan/configroutes wan2
/jffs/scripts/wan/linkdup wan
/jffs/scripts/wan/linkdup wan2
They all failed. The only solution I've found is to plugin the "wan" cable.
