Updated an iPad to 14.5 and noted the web UI is barely accessible (very slow, timeouts, sometimes fails to laod)

Glad the forums are back up!! So I can confirm this. Yes same here on my R7800, after I updated my Mac OSX to 11.3 and and my iphone to 14.5, the interface of dd-wrt latest build is super slow, times out most of the time, and it just takes forever to try and make settings stick.

I had the latest ddwrt version installed and was experimenting with some settings. I caused a situation where I had to re-install ddwrt. So, since I had to re-install anyway, I decided to roll back to DD-WRT v3.0-r44048 std (08/02/20) to see if that solved the Apple device problem. YES IT DID. I can now access and use the ddwrt web interface with no obvious problems on macOS Big Sur, iOS, and iPadOS latest versions.

So far I have not noticed any loss of functionality.

Is there a chart somewhere that reveals the changes each ddwrt release features? I tried searching for such a chart but couldn't find one.

If there is a feature matrix, it is outdated and not maintained. Please engage more completely. Everyone should already know that you have to follow commits as there is no maintained changelog.

Ok thanks for the information. However, your comment sounds more like a stern lecture rather than providing information. A simple "no there is not" would have sufficed.

But not being a little more complete minus the slight hazing wouldn't have been sufficient. My apologies for your perceived lecturing. There is a certain expectation of reading and research here; please refer to the forum rules and guidelines in my signature.

No changes for me on iOS 14.5. It works.
I've had different kind of an issue for quite a while, though... that is, it often takes a long time before iPhone or iPad connects to my dd-wrt wifi (either when coming home and turning on wifi on an iDevice, or switching from airplane mode). Sometimes I even have to initiate the connection manually (sort of - I have to go to Settings / Wifi, and tap connect).
It's not critical, just weird, and sometimes quite a nuisance. Especially weird because Windows or Android gadgets usually connect (more or less) right away.
(There was even an iPad Pro (I think 2018) that wouldn't connect at all.)

This looks like to be the trouble for the DD-WRT web interface:

bugs.webkit.org - localStorage changes aren't reflected between WKWebViews using WKWebViewConfiguration._groupIdentifier

I have absolutely no idea what all that means. Can you break it down in layman's terms?

Firefox works better but I had to block a weird request to auto-save password from a weird account when I was browsing the internal router pages.

Maybe this can help the devs to fix the bug untill Apple fix it?

In case anyone needs a workaround, you can switch to indexeddb for storage, and use service workers to communicate the changes between tabs https://static-misc-3.glitch.me/safari-storage-workaround/
