I know this is old hardware but wanted to post for future readers. As it took me a lot of playing and testing to sort out.

I just installed V3.0-r44715 std on my WRT1900AC V1. I only have a 200 down 10 up circuit.

Prior to installing DD-WRT, I was averaging 70-90 down on my 5ghz circuit. After installing DD-WRT, I was getting 30-50 down. Yes I did a factory reset after installing DD-WRT

The resolution for me was to set the Wireless Network Mode to AC-Only and the Channel Width to VHT80.

With this change I am now seeing down of 150-199 and up of 10-13.

After this change I have a couple of old 5ghz devices that can't connect but the ones I care about can. I moved these older devices to the 2.4ghz side. Which on a side note is averaging 35 down compared to 18-20 on the factory firmware.

Hope this helps future readers.

I tried that on my WRT1200ACv2 -- it made no difference. The 5GHz network speeds drop off to about 11Mbps after an hour or so.

I have not seen that but I did get more consistent performance changing the channels from Auto to 11 and 60, 2.4 and 5ghz respectively.

Yeah -- don't use auto channel selection with dd-wrt.

I recently posted elsewhere how I was finally able to get my 1900 V1's away from r31924. After years of failing builds including r44048 which was the most stable I did complete resets on all my routers. Red button reset before upgrade and after, both partitions, and configuration from scratch. Both partitions at more recent builds (r46772 or later) and able to upgrade without problem or reset.
Likely overkill procedure but all routers running without WiFi problems for the first time in years.

I've repeatedly reset the configuration on my WRT1200ACv2, and the reconfigured it from scratch. Still have terrible wifi performance within an hour or two with any version of DD-WRT more recent than r44048. I've definitely tried r46069 with no improvement.
