When I first installed dd wrt on this 3200 acm I was able to run channel 161 5ghz 80mhz, but somewhere down the line the 161 disappeared and only the highest channel I can pick is 157. Could it been an update to the firmware or what? I am in the Eastern Europe region if that matters. What can I do to get my channel back ?
what release are you running and what's your regulatory domain? Are you able to run channel 149 UU+6 ?
I am running Firmware: DD-WRT v3.0-r45863 std (02/28/21) I am not sure what regulatory domain I am in, I live in Poland, Yes I can run channel 149 UU+6.
I figured something out, when I changed my regulatoryy domain Czecz Republic channel 161 appeared, but as soon as I changed it to 80 channel width, it went back to 157. so I am speculating that channels are correlated with the channel width. So I guess I can't have channel 161 unless I want to live with 40 mhz width.
Do a search for "Poland 802.11ac wifi channel map" or something similar. You should find some nice pictures that show which channels and what widths are possible for your area. In North America, for a 80mhz wide channel at the high end of the 5ghz spectrum, I think you only have one choice - 149 + UU6 extension channels - which means 149 thru 161.
So 149+UU and 161+LL are practically the same for 80 Mhz devices.
The only difference is in the primary and secondary 20/40 channels.
So a 20Mhz client transmits at 149+UU on channel 149 and at 161+LL on channel 161.
An 80Mhz client that uses the full spectrum transmits from 149-161 anyway.
The frequencies are actually quite similar in the EU.
I do not have the current firmware on it but I think there was no update anyway.
Is also an Atheros router ... (just as a hint)
Just look with "iw reg get" what is displayed there
Otherwise 149+UU and 161+LL are actually the same, makes on 80Mhz devices actually no difference
or also look with "iw list" there all channels should be displayed individually
Edit:
Some of the Marvel routers have something like an own "Region Lock".
They have their own power table ... was one of the newer WLAN chipsets that also has a different driver (but I would have to read up now)
maybe it is because of that
Edit2:
just wanted to say that with the current firmware the wireless-regdb for the mentioned countries has not changed
I can select channel 161 on my R7800 without problems also with Poland as regulatory domain

Yes I can see that but can you change it to 161 with 80mhz channel width? That's the problem I am having, can't change it to 161 with 80mhz channel width.
