I was wondering how often do we need to update the firmware of the router. I know that there are bugs and 0 day stuff so that's one reason to stay updated, on the other hand, if it ain't broke ,don't fix it. So whats yur take on this guys?
It's one of those "it depends" answers I think. If you have a typical home wifi network, you probably lean towards "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." However, since you have installed DD-WRT and are on this forum, you probably are using some more advanced features not available in the consumer code, and/or you are an IT tinkerer and enjoy this stuff, and/or you want to give back to the open source community, so you want to upgrade more frequently to take advantage bug fixes, performance improvements, and security patches.

Well put, and you are correct in your assumption that I am an IT type individual who likes to find and fix bugs. Myself personally I update once a month.
