I have a TrendNet TEW-824dru onto which I've put the recommended DD-WRT build. It's a 3 x 3 antenna design, both in 2.4 and 5GHz ranges. I can configure 1+2+3 for both receive and transmit antennas for 2.4GHz and get the right maximum speed of 450mbps. However, when I look at the antenna chains field for 5GHz, it only has 1 and 1+2 options. There's no 1+2+3 option shown. This reduces potential performance from 1300mbps to 867mbps.

From what I can see, this is an error and it should have 1+2+3 available. Anybody able to confirm and maybe give some information on how I could change the antenna chains value to 1+2+3?

Many thanks.

probably nothing and would have to post a bug report https://svn.dd-wrt.com/timeline . not finding info on what radios are in it either..

but ssh/telnet into the router and post output of "iw list".

The 824 is the same SoC as the 823:

Indeed, the TEW-824dru is basically identical from a hardware perspective to the TEW-823dru and as you can see from your links, it shows both 2.4 and 5GHz being 3 x 3. I've attached the output from an IW LIST command, which shows the 5GHz as only having 2 antennas for some reason.

have u looked inside the router to confirm its not a modified version of the qca9880 for whatever reason?

(never heard of a modified 9880 to remove a chain, + despite specs saying ac 1300, but oems do dumb things all the time)

From what I can see, it's not modified. Also, when running the original TrendNet firmware, it shows as AC1300. Seems to me like a driver or similar issue. Maybe a table entry needs updating?

I've raised this as a fault.
