Story: my 300Mbps Internet connection from ISP was working fine and speedtested 300Mbps from my PC to EA6500v1 stock firmware 1.1.29 just fine. But I have upgraded my ISP plan to 500Mbps but speed test stays the same 300! When I connect my PC to Ethernet LAN port of EA6500v1 - the speed test showing 500Mbps like it should.

So the problem is Wi-Fi performance. Upgraded to latest DD-WRT v3.0-r46380 but got even worse results: around 220Mbps from WAN Ethernet port of EA6500v1 to wireless 5Ghz 11ac connected PC.

I got PCI-E adapter PCE-AC68 (MIMO 3x3, connection speed 1300/1300) so it isn't a problem. But I assume this 300Mpbs limit is a hardware limitation or some QoS or priority settings?

Can someone still using this router confirm throughput speed? Thanks!

The only thing you can do is enable "Shortcut Forwarding Engine" (does not work with QOS)

This router have a 600 Mhz single core MIPSL CPU, the same as my Ausus RT-AC66U

I don't get that speed even if it's overclocked to 662 Mhz. Check if it's possible in the Administration->Management tab.

I replaced it with an R7800 to get rid of drops on IPTV.

SFE enabled by default, with out it speed drops to ~80Mbps, overclock to 662 boosts speed from 220 to ~250, still lower than stock firmware.

So this is hardware limitation on 300Mpbs throughput, too bad Sad

yep, time to update to a new more powerful router, as WAN performance is bound with CPU power...fast connections need lots of it... Smile
stick to Per Yngve Berg suggestion, get Netgear R7800, even second hand from Amazon/Ebay will do...
