Hello there:

I am starting a new thread on this router as the original thread was locked & it suggested to begin a new one.

I have just acquired this router & want to upload the DD-WRT firmware onto it but what I find as the developed firmware doesn't seem to match what the router will allow to be loaded onto it.

There are revisions in the database (v1 , v2) for the firmware versions but I can't find (what I assume is) the original version firmware.

The router has no revision stamped into the sticker on the base of it. I also do not see any reference to the chipset inside the router.

Anyone shed some light on this issue?

thx very much

Thx for that,

I have tried to upload the applicable file (in this case v1) but the router rejects the firmware version.

Ok, so which stock firmware version is currently loaded, and which version of DD-WRT are you trying to flash? What is the exact message being displayed? It could be a file size issue. Screenshots might be helpful, but please do not post images wider than 768 pixels unless you link them to an image hosting site.

I've also referenced this 2nd thread on the router, the very last entry suggests that one has to upload the current Linksys firmware version (which has been done) onto the router before attempting to upload the DD WRT file.

the DDWRT version is......WRT1900AC v1

chipset MV78230-B0

Actually, the newest Linksys version is Version 1.1.10.187766, dated 4/12/2018, but it will prevent you from flashing DD-WRT, most likely, so do NOT flash that file. Now, that being said:

Oh, and make sure you are flashing with factory-to-ddwrt.bin =).

If you are having problems with the initial flash being too large, go back to first build of 2019 or 2018.

The current "failsafe" stable build for Marvell is 44048, but feel free to flash something newer to test it. Research the build release threads in this forum for reference.

Also, do *not* use the router database as it is not updated.

Model No. is on the bottom of the router in the upper right, this is to confirm model and version.

That 2nd thread talks about downgrading, not upgrading, but likely do not need either methods.

If anything you will need to upload an older 2018 factory-to-ddwrt.bin if newer is not successful.

Avoid use of Chrome, Chromium-based web browsers, addons, extensions, plugins and history.

how does one know what chipset is installed onto the board?

https://wikidevi.wi-cat.ru/Linksys_WRT1900AC_v1 (v2 and ACS are linked down the page at bottom right-ish)

This information has usually been verified by reliable resources.

If your "Model No." on the bottom, in upper right, WRT1900AC with nothing after it's V1.

No other label or location is reliable. Ignore FCC ID, also ignore front label of the router.

This is directly from the Linksys downloads page, support articles and their official forum.

Gentlemen:

thx very much for the assistance, the new beta factory to wrt firmware installed & I'm back online again. I've used DDWRT in the past on older routers & the firmware has always been more user friendly & more flexible.
I did dl the new beta (2020) bin file & I'll get that installed as well.

Thx so much for the assistance..
