just don't use remote administration, insecurely...if you use SSh use it with secure key and remove password log in as an option...
if remote administration is needed than use VPN server/client to connect, (both inbound firewall enabled), as this is the safest way to do, so far...
also disable upnp, and ping requests and make sure you enabled the SPI router firewall...those are all basic rules...
