I currently have two routers both running the latest DD-WRT builds

On the primary router, I have disabled the 2.4ghz channel, as I only need to broadcast the 5ghz channel (AC/N Mixed).

My second router (which only broadcasts on 2.4ghz) is at the other end of the house. It is hardwired to the primary router and is setup as an access point.

Both the primary router and the access point share the same SSID’s and security modes / passwords.

My question is regarding the beacon intervals on both the 5ghz settings of the primary router, and the 2.4ghz settings of the access point.

How should these be set so that when I roam between the primary router and access point it is seamless.

I currently have the 5ghz beacon interval setting of the primary router at 300 / DTIM 1

The 2.4ghz beacon interval setting of the access point is 400 / DTIM 1

Are these settings correct or would you advise differently?

Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for the quick reply! The only information I can find is regrding the beacon intervals for a single router that broadcasts 2.4ghz and 5ghz. I am unable to locate any information regarding beacon inetrvals for semalsess roaming between one primary router broadcasting on 5ghz and a second access pooint broadcasting on 2.4ghz. I've scoured countless posts on this one and I'm no closer to finding an answer. Any help would be appreciated.

Lower beacon may encourage clients to use one AP over another, but behaviors may not match your goals.
