I have a WRT54G-TM with the MMC Mod. In previous years I used the storage a lot, but just recently I have been doing other projects, so upgraded my router to 45995. I thought the MMC was still working with the new firmware, but upon using it today, although it looks like it is working, in fact it is not, it fails to mount the card no matter what you do and in fact seems to erase the content of the card on every start up.

I seems 19342 is the last version I can get the MMC mod to work with properly. Does anyone know what is broken, and if there is anyway of fixing it in the new versions?

Thanks

Old issue, never quite resolved, I guess:

https://svn.dd-wrt.com/ticket/2641

What is the latest build revision you have tried? I will forward this.

Ah, thank you. Yes, that is the one.

The last version I seem to be able to get the card to work with is.

DD-WRT v24-sp2 (06/08/12) mega
(SVN revision 19342)

I have been using 45995 on the router the last couple of weeks perfectly, until I noticed today that the MMC card didn't work with it, which is what got me tracking back through previous versions to see when it stopped working.

Do you have any logs from the router when this happens? Syslog, kernel log, serial console log, etc.? Sorry I didn't get back to this until now, but I noticed you opened a duplicate ticket which I commented on and mentioned that I forwarded my previous email with a link to the new duplicate ticket in it. If I didn't get a response to my first email, then I can't provide a response to you. If I don't see any commits to fix the problem, then I can't provide any feedback or advise to test another build. Sorry it took a while to do these logs. I had to order some headers to put a serial port on the board.

I have been trying to scour the forum to see if I can find any other leads.

I will update these links as I go.

Although I am sure this is too obvious, I have attached the content of the /lib/modules/2.4.37 directory builds:-

19342 - Last with MMC working
19519 - First with MMC not working
46177 - Latest build still with MMC not working

It has been mentioned in other posts, that ext2.o vanishes from the library after 19342 (the last working version).

As the SD Card relies on Ext2 for the format, this possibly has some bearing on what is occuring?

Which file are you flashing? The dd-wrt.v24_mega_generic.bin, dd-wrt.v24_mega_special_generic.bin, dd-wrt.v24_micro_generic.bin, dd-wrt.v24_micro_special_generic.bin, dd-wrt.v24_mini_generic.bin, dd-wrt.v24_mini_special_generic.bin, ....?

The only kernel config I see that does *not* have the ext2 module enabled is for micro builds:

https://svn.dd-wrt.com/browser/src/linux/brcm/linux.v24_2/.config_micro

@blkt

Trying it now.

Thanks.

**EDIT** I will do as soon as it's available to download as I haven't yet got round to trying extracting and rebuilding the firmware myself. It's on my list of things to try.

Going a.out on a limb here and posting alpha 46205 image I just downloaded for you to test. Please provide feedback with sylogs/klogs, dmesg, lsmod, etc. Thanks.

Thank you for going out on a limb, it is much appreciated.

OK, I have just flashed it now. SD card is now not recognised at all in the GUI (Card Info Not Available).

It no longer wipes the first partition, I have put a text file on there, and both the text file and the partition labels survive reboots.

I tried GPIO pins select on both Auto and manual, which made no difference.

I will start logging now.
