Router WRT1900ACS V2
AP - mode
No reset.

GUI crashes soon after boot with this build.
Httpd restart attempt from the command line gives error.

[ 257.779423] CPU: 1 PID: 3168 Comm: httpd Not tainted 4.9.262 #2509
[ 257.847038] Process httpd (pid: 3168, stack limit = 0xde71a210)

Boot brings GUI up again for a short while. (Only minutes - not hours).

Same behaviour as previous build. (46130)

Router/Version: WRT1900ACSv2 / DD-WRT v3.0-r46166 std (03/24/21)
File/Kernel: ddwrt-linksys-wrt1900acsv2-webflash.bin / Linux 4.9.262 #2509 SMP Wed Mar 24 03:27:57 +07 2021 armv7l
Previous/Reset: r46069 / No
Mode/Status: Gateway, OpenVPN Client, FreeRadius Server
Issues/Errors: Up about 30 minutes so far. GUI is sluggish (about 2.5 seconds to change tabs versus under 0.5 second in r46069), but same since boot to now without any crash. CPU and Memory usage look normal. LMK if I should look for anything in particular in the logs, etc.

EDIT #1: As a follow-up, although I'd intended to let this run all day, fate dealt us an unrelated power failure after a couple of hours up (and I didn't have this unit on a UPS). When power returned, the webif GUI was no better and possibly slower at just over 3.1 seconds per tab change (manually timed with stopwatch). I reset to factory defaults using the webif, but haven't input my settings yet. After reset only, I'm pleased to report that the webif responsiveness is back to normal at less than 0.5 second per tab change. So, no issues so far after the reset. I'll try to notice if/when it slows down as I enter my settings (e.g., Multiple DHCP Servers, etc.), and report back again if anything turns up.

EDIT #2: As a follow-up, a GUI reset and manual reconfiguration of this ACSv2 fully resolved the webif sluggishness. Working well, thanks! Now I'll install r46166 on our ACSv1, which sees more wifi use.

[edit]

It is edit time!

Router/Version: Linksys WRT1900ACS v2
File: ddwrt-linksys-wrt1900acsv2-webflash.bin
Firmware: DD-WRT v3.0-r46166 std (03/24/21) (prev. DD-WRT v3.0-r46130 std (03/21/21))
Kernel: Linux 4.9.262 #2509 SMP Wed Mar 24 03:27:57 +07 2021 armv7l
Mode: Gateway, 2.4G and 5G wifi, Wireguard for external access, WAN to 4G, Keep Alive reboot 6:02 in the morning
Reset: No
Status: 2:09h up, ok, load average 0.00, 0.00, 0.00, Temperatures CPU 71.7 °C / WL0 44.9 °C / WL1 46.6 °C.

Unit is working, nothing special. Webif is snappy as always, no slowdowns at all.

Tested multiple wireguard connections, browsing via Wifi 2.4G, 5G and wired. Nothing strange, no jitter, no bloat. According to grep -i taint /var/log/messages nothing special, also greping http does not show anything unusual.
Tested its webif about an hour with waterfox G3 and duckduckgo browser --> each and every menu loaded in an instant.

Finally run routersploit against it, found nothing Cool

WRT1900ACSV2, serious wifi issues: after a couple of hours devices disconnect and does not connect anymore.
The only access I have is connecting with OpenVPN from mobile network: no http, only ssh. I get this line on /tmp/var/log/messages:

Code:
Mar 24 21:38:00 Router user.info : hostapd : daemon on wlan0 with pid 4776 died, restarting....

[UPDATE] After yesterday reboot it seems everything is working fine. I'll keep an eye on it.
[UPDATE2] here we go again, 24 hours after, same problem.

Upgraded WRT1200AC v1's from r46130 to r46166 using Brave 1.10.91 (64-bit) running on Linux Mint 20.1 OS hardwired via Cat6.

Successful update and reboot. No reset, nothing disabled prior to update, uptime approx 3 hrs, wired/wireless connected, vpn up immediately (Expressvpn). I do not use NAS. SFE and IPv6 are always disabled. OpenVPN client/DNSMasq, QoS with PIE always enabled. I do not have any Apple devices.

Kernel Version Linux 4.9.262 #2509 SMP Wed Mar 24 03:27:57 +07 2021 armv7l

No issues with a routine update session. Near instant GUI tab change. Wifi devices/phones seems fine will update if issues occur.

log is incomplete. please provide correct crashlogs and not just one line snippets. beside this. i cannot reproduce such a issue. (ram fault). the webserver does restart itself automatic. no need for reboot. if it doesnt. than you have another serious problem. this can a memory fault or a out of memory because of other custom actions you do. but since you did not provide any details, i cannot help here

You are right. Flashed back to 46166 from 45993. And I cannot reproduce it again either.
The WRT1900ACS V2 is new. Cannot rule out HW-failure - but runs without issues (besides Wifi problems as described by others) on 45993.
For the sake of clarity. Router replaced TP-link WDR4300 with same setup running DD-WRT a decade or so - all working and stable.

Router setup:
All config entered manually, as advised in this forum. (No restore from the WDR4300).
Router was flashed directly to DD-WRT from stock - so I don't know if there may were issues on stock firmware as well.

Configuration
OpenVPN - tap mode bridged. Utilizing TA-key in addition to certificates. Certificates copied from WDR4300, but entered manually. All working.
Wireguard - configured from scratch. No copy from WDR4300. All done from scratch with new keys. 11 Clients. Non-standard port selected. All working.
Running both Wifi Radios. 5GHZ AC-Only WHT80, 2.4GHZ HT40 Auto Channel NG-Mixed. Security WP2+AES only on both. Clients loosing connection over time. Same issue as described by others. Hits IOS clients first, but the same on a Samsung Mobile (S9+) and 4 Raspberries (2x PI3's, 2x PI4'S). PC's more stable - but also wifi lost eventually.
Running Guest network on both Wifi Radios. Not tested (no guests yet)
Nothing attached or enabled on USB.
Port forwarding utilized for SMTP, IMAP, HTTP and HTTPS. Static leases creates for machines on those services. Issues with one of the static clients (PI4 on Ether, not wifi) but cannot rule out that problem is related to that client. It did run fine on 45993 though.

I have attached messages, after enabling syslog. I also captured the DMESG output from boot. I attached them in a zip. Let me know if there is more I can do. Note - will revert to 45993, but will go back to 46166 if thats needed and is helpful for further development .

Several releases back I noticed a drop in my wifi signal strength. Wifi strength SEEMED to be varying with the releases. It did not affect my wifi connections/streaming but I was concerned at the sudden drop/rise and the possibility that it was connected to firmware builds.

We have had a lot of internet service churn in our neighborhood so I decided to check the channel loads for the 2.4 GHz radio which I use most. I was surprised to see my channel 6 was now the preferred channel in my neighborhood (11 users) where it was completely unused several months ago. Channel 9 was free of users so I switched my 2.4 Ghz radio to that. My Channel quality jumped from 51% to 95% immediately. The solution was so simple it had not occurred to me.

My signal problems were not related to DD-WRT builds. Please disregard my previous mentions of signal strength drops as they were entirely because of my neighborhood channel usage changing over time. If you are experiencing low signal strengths (Status/Wireless/Channel Quality) check the channel usage in your neighborhood.

I'm using Linux Mint so I used the LinSSID app for the check but there are others available for other OS's. Probably not the cause but if you are having wifi drops it may be worth your time to check channel usage in your neighborhood and try using the lowest load channel.

Posting in the new build thread because it's the only place I've mentioned my signal strength drop/rise in the past.

Edit: Actually just use the Site Survey button at the bottom of Status/Wireless tab instead of an app.

I know what you mean! My wifi neighborhood is getting worse every day. I've used an Android app called "Coverage" to conveniently survey from a portable device.

But as others' newer hardware does more channel hopping more frequently, I've resorted to Auto Channel settings (Wireless/Basic Settings/Wireless Channel: Auto). I know this used to be buggy (and may still be on different hardware), but it works better than humanly possibly on at least my WRT1900ACSv1! Just checking now, it looks like it's changed 2.4G channel once today, but same 5G channel as yesterday. That's as expected since 2.4G is far more congested than 5G these days. There's no current downside to Auto Channel on at least this device, AFAIK.

I think my only other option would have been to reduce power further (which I've done somewhat for other reasons) and move to a relatively unoccupied but lower power limit channel (e.g., ch. 12 in Canada or ch. 12/13 in USA). But being not far from an airport, that'd be risky business unless I was certain of the rules, radio outputs, and antenna gains.

Router/Version: 1900ACS
File/Kernel: r46166 (flashed using FF on W10pro)
Previous/Reset: From 41630, no reset
Mode/Status:
Issues/Errors: NO GUI after a few minutes, no accecs to NAS (SMB) at all at the same time. Internet still up on 5Ghz for Windows at time of typing (3rd reboot).

The same issues were in 46166 but that build lasted hours before falling over, this falls over in minutes. I have rebooted 3 times and the same behaviour shows. The GUI seems to appear very quickly when it first comes back up but only stays up for minutes (5-10 if I had to guess

That's really interesting. Assuming you came from 46130 (..you state same behavior in 46166, but I assume you mean 46130 - and that was the previous build?) I also experienced that behavior on both builds. But as you can see from my message above, I'm not able to reproduce it - and therefore cannot provide the logs for investigation. If you can reproduce it, can you share the output from the logs DMESG/Syslog? Seems we are on the same basic hardware, but different variants. And I'm positive that I did experience the httpd - shutdown, several times - so more people with the same experience, indicates that it is not a HW-error which I feared - but something that must have happened in/to the build.

3200ACMv1 (there's no other version to my knowledge) upgraded from previous version, no reset.

So far so good.

The only "error" I found, and it trucks on despite it, is on OpenVPN with OpenSSL (only shows up on the OpenVPN log, so I suspect this might be an OpenSSL/OpenVPN issue and not DDWRT):

19691231 16:00:40 N OpenSSL: error:1416F086:lib(20):func(367):reason(134)
19691231 16:00:40 N TLS_ERROR: BIO read tls_read_plaintext error

Despite that OpenVPN is working, though more than likely with plaintext.

Will update if there's any issues.
