Tested on two identical Linksys WRT1200AC v1, iPad Pro 3rd gen. model A2377, iPhone 12 Pro model A2407, Surface Pro 4 and Surface Pro 8.
iOS, IpadOS and Windows 11 PRO installed with laTested updates; close to pristine installations with no antiviruses, VPNs or similar.
Speed measurements carried out using OOKLA Speedtest.
WiFi security set to WPA2 Personal, WPA2 Personal with SHA256, WPA3 Personal / SAE.
5GHz network set to VHT80, AC/N-Mixed.
2.4 GHz network set to Wide HT40, NG-Mixed.
MAC Filter enabled for both frequences, to only allow my devices. Fixed MAC address set on the device side for all devices.
DDNS enabled.
DNS set to 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1
All other settings remain with their default values.

Started with DD-WRT firmware 44048 installed on both routers
Tested speed on PCs while wired directly to the router - got 200 Mbps
Connected all devices to the 5GHz WiFi network
Tested connection speed on iPAD, got 180 Mbps
Tested connection speed on iPhone, got 185 Mbps
Tested connection speed on Surface 4, got 160 Mbps
Tested connection speed on Surface 8, got 190 Mbps

Updated firmware to 44715 (downloaded from https://download1.dd-wrt.com/dd-wrtv2/downloads/betas/2020/11-03-2020-r44715/linksys-wrt1200ac/ddwrt-linksys-wrt1200ac-webflash.bin)
Tested speed on PCs while wired directly to router - got 200 Mbps
Connected all devices to the 5GHz WiFi network
Tested connection speed on iPAD, got 80 Mbps
Tested connection speed on iPhone, got 75 Mbps
Surface 4 cannot see the 5 GHz network, tried to connect to the 2.4 GHz network, got error "Cannot connect to this network"
Tested connection speed on Surface 8, got 190 Mbps

Updated firmware to 48362 (downloaded from https://download1.dd-wrt.com/dd-wrtv2/downloads/betas/2022/02-15-2022-r48362/linksys-wrt1200ac/ddwrt-linksys-wrt1200ac-webflash.bin
Tested speed on PCs while wired directly to router - got 200 Mbps
Connect all devices to the 5GHz WiFi network
Tested connection speed on iPAD, got 85 Mbps
Tested connection speed on iPhone, got 70 Mbps
Surface 4 cannot see the 5 GHz network, tried to connect to the 2.4 GHz network, got error "Cannot connect to this network"
Tested connection speed on Surface 8, got 195 Mbps

I tried setting the 5 GHz network channel width to its default Full and the 2.4 GHz network channel width to its default Full, obtained no significant speed changes.
Connecting to the 2.4 GHz network produced similar speeds (except in case of Surface Pro 4 which cannot connect).

Choose one. Try default WPA settings, so WPA2 Personal and CCMP-128 (AES) checkboxes only.

I was one of the r44048 holdouts and recently updated to r48322, with cleared nvram (nvram erase && reboot) and a clean setup (WPA2 Personal + CCMP-128 (AES) + other typical Wireless Basic Settings), I'm seeing results similar to Ivo_K on both a WRT1900AC and WRT32X. With a 500Mbps WAN, speedtests on WiFi devices are coming in at ~60 Mbps. No more drops from iOS/Apple devices, but the speeds do appear to be lower than before for some unknown reason.

Since clients are not dropping, topic has now drifted. As always, best to report findings in new build threads.

Edit: New Build - 08/10/2022 - r49677

For those coming in later and finding this issue. The current recommended firmware (as of October 2022) in the router database is still v44715. Can confirm that later beta releases (for me v50500) have resolved the iOS disconnection issue.

@kpugsley welcome to our lively community.

The router database is seriously outdated, and anyone who reads the information on said page of router database is so advised, though most people do not read such available information.

https://dd-wrt.com/support/router-database/ The relevant part being the disclaimer.

That said, thank you for your confirmation though be advised newer builds already exist.

Maybe the problem is this? https://www.sniffwifi.com/2016/05/go-to-sleep-go-to-sleep-go-to-sleep.html

I'm experimenting right now with DTIM = 3.
