Dear experts,

I have:
Router Model: Linksys WRT3200ACM
Firmware Version: DD-WRT v3.0-r30826 std (11/01/16)
Kernel Version: Linux 3.18.42 #102 SMP Fri Oct 14 01:08:44 CEST 2016 armv7l

I've got the WLAN configured, with the VPN.
Works great

Some of my laptops are old.
So for the wireless, I only want to use the older:
Wireless Interface wlan1 [2.4 GHz] - Marvell 88W8964 802.11ac

And just a basic configuration
Like the ISP creates when they install your router.

But I can't get the wireless to work.
No matter how many settings I set, I
just can't get my phone to connect.
But it connects fine to the ISP's router.

What is a good clear set of instructions to
explain what exactly I need to do?
5 to 10 steps
200-300 words or less

Yes, I've seen this document
Basic Wireless Settings
https://wiki.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Basic_Wireless_Settings

It's supposed to be basic, but it's over 4000 words, and
mostly just detailing all the many options

Thanks

First, upgrade to version 44048.

Second, do a factory reset by either holding down the red button for 10 seconds OR Telnet to router IP as username root and your password. "nvram erase && reboot" no quotes. You will have to login to 192.168.1.1 and type in the configuration again.

Third, setup your wireless settings to something like this:

5GHz ATH0
Wireless Mode AP
Wireless Network Mode AC/N-Mixed
Channel Width VHT80 (80 Mhz)
Wireless Channel 36 - 5180 MHz
Extension Channel UU (+6)
Allow Channel Overlapping Disable
Wireless Network Name (SSID) XXXXX
Wireless SSID Broadcast Enable

2.4GHz ATH1
Wireless Mode AP
Wireless Network Mode NG-mixed
(if your clients are really old, you may need BG-mixed or mixed)
Channel Width Full (20 MHz)
Wireless Channel 11 - 2462 MHz
TurboQAM (QAM256) support Disable
Wireless Network Name (SSID) XXXXX
Wireless SSID Broadcast Enable

ATH2 - DISABLE

Advanced Settings (mostly the same for both antennas)
TX Power 30 dBm
Antenna Gain 0 dBi
U-APSD (Automatic Power Save) Disable
Protection Mode None
RTS Threshold Disable
Short Preamble Enable
Short GI Enable
Single User Beamforming Enable (5GHz only)
Multi User Beamforming Disable (5Ghz only)
AP Isolation Disable
Beacon Interval 100
DTIM Interval 2
WMM Support Enable
ScanList default
Sensitivity Range (ACK Timing) 0
Max Associated Clients 256
Drop Clients with Low Signal
Minimum Signal for authenticate -128
Minimum Signal for connection -128
Poll Time for signal lookup 10
Amount of allowed low signals 3
Multicast To Unicast Disable
Network Configuration Bridged
Radio Time Restrictions
Radio Scheduling Disable

Fourth, setup wireless security for all antennas:

WPA2 Personal
CCMP-128 (AES)
Give it a nice long shared key
(if they are really old clients, you may need to drop down to WPA Personal)

Reboot

Hi, is r44048 also the last best firmware for Linksys 1200ACv2 with this configuration?

I don't know about that model. I run 44048 on a 1900ACSv1 and a 3200ACM without issues. i'd start with 44048.

WENED uses r44048 on WRT1200AC V1. Build choice and configuration is dependent on client (mis)behavior.

Use the same security protocal, same ssid name, same password.
Do that for all the wireless antenae.
Do not disable anything, one of those antenae will decide which to use, i left all the default, works great.
This is working with a March 6 build on a WRT3200acm
