Has anyone else noticed that DNS caching performance has improved markedly on this release? Coincidence?

R9000 X10. It seems that DNS results are faster than that last build. I changed nothing else on my router other than flashing the new version.

Router/Version: TP-Link 1043 (rev.1.8.), r45955 std (03/09/21)
File/Kernel:
Previous/Reset: factory firmware, for this particular router + DD-WRT 40559 on other 1043 routers.
Mode/Status: Gateway
Issues/Errors: Wi-Fi cut-off

I am using firmware version 45955 - for a couple of days, and I observe not stable work of Wi-Fi.

Namely after automatic reboot, which is scheduled on 3:00 - the wi-fi signal is not working at around 8:00 (or maybe earlier).

I have noticed similar issues with previous firmwares on my other TP-Link 1043 devices, but they were occaisional, not such often as in this release.
It's the 3-rd day in a row, when this isssue is observed.

Update method: GUI
Router/Version: EA8500 (no version)
File/Kernel: DD-WRT v3.0-r45955 std (03/09/21) Linux 4.9.260
Previous/Reset: "Restore Factory Defaults" condition
Mode/Status:
Issues/Errors: Bridge / wifi interfaces

After resetting the router to "Restore Factory Defaults" I saw a situation where wlan1 wasn’t bridged as I expected it to be.

I did the following. See my notes within and the attached dmesg file.

First, restored to “factory” (nvram erase might have been better, but this is what it is for now):

    Reset to factory defaults
    Set password
Enable SSH, syslogd and klogd and apply

Logged-in via SSH and I issued brctl show

    root@DD-WRT:~# brctl show
bridge name bridge id STP enabled interfaces
    br0 8000.c05627070fe9 no vlan1
    wlan0
    wlan1

The above makes sense - vlan1, wlan0 and wlan1 all bridged. Good.

Now“disable” wlan0 from the GUI and apply

I waited a bit and checked the bridge; I checked it a few times to make sure it was no longer in transistion.

    root@DD-WRT:~# brctl show
bridge name bridge id STP enabled interfaces
    br0 8000.c05627070fe9 no vlan1

Hmm... above, I disabled wlan0 and it's gone, but where did wlan1 go?. That’s interesting.

Now enable (set to “mixed” mode) wlan0 and apply

Checking the bridge…

    root@DD-WRT:~# brctl show
bridge name bridge id STP enabled interfaces
    br0 8000.c05627070fe9 no vlan1
    wlan0
    wlan1

OK, makes sense; re-enabling wlan0 put it back in the bridge, and (oh by the way) wlan1 is there too. This looks proper.

Now disable wlan1 and apply

    root@DD-WRT:~# brctl show
bridge name bridge id STP enabled interfaces
    br0 8000.c05627070fe9 no vlan1
    wlan0

OK, no issue here; wlan0 remains in the bridge and wlan1 is gone.

Now enable wlan1 “mixed” and apply

    root@DD-WRT:~# brctl show
bridge name bridge id STP enabled interfaces
    br0 8000.c05627070fe9 no vlan1
    wlan0
    wlan1

No issue here; vlan1, wlan0 and wlan1 all bridged.

Disable wlan0 and apply

    root@DD-WRT:~# brctl show
bridge name bridge id STP enabled interfaces
    br0 8000.c05627070fe9 no vlan1
    wlan1

This time, after disabling wlan0, I get the expected result that vlan1 and wlan1 are still bridged. Compare this to what happened the first time I disabled wlan0.

I then checked dmesg and saved it, attached. The interesting stuff starts to happen around "346.046709". I'm a bit of a newbie and can't offer my interpretation, yet, of what did or did not happen.

Update method: Web GUI
Router/Version: TP Link TL-WR1043ND v1.8
File/Kernel: DD-WRT v3.0-r45955 std (03/09/21)
Previous/Reset: DD-WRT v3.0-r44627 std (10/22/20) / Yes
Mode/Status: Gateway / Configured WiFi settings based on MSOEngineer's recommended QCA settings.
Issues/Errors:
Similar to the previous loaded DD-WRT firmware (r44627), the WiFi is unstable. Sometime after half a day to a day, the WiFi would just drop and the WiFi indicator light would no longer light up. I can still see the SSID when I look up available WiFi networks on my devices but I am unable to connect to them (tells me incorrect password).

Web GUI? Try a hardware reset (hold reset button 10 seconds) or "nvram erase && reboot" from Telnet as root.

Or, use TFTP recovery mode to upload a factory-to-ddwrt.img again.
