I'm trying to switch on the Link Aggregation on ports 1 and 2 of my R9000. I see mixed reports on whether this is actualy possible but can't find a guide. Can someone point me in the right direction please?
I don't see LAG offered as an option in my R9000. I just connected the 10Gb SFP port to my 10Gb switch and called it a day. _________________ Segment 1 XR700 10Gb LAN, 1Gb WAN ISP BS

Is there a manufacturer or model you could recommend or is any switch compatible?
I converted the house to a 10Gb backbone using a Netgear Prosafe XS716T 16 port 10Gb managed switch connecting 2 10Gb Nas's, two 10Gb gamers, 2 R9000s via SFP, 2 1Gb POE switches
and 3 Unify AP's with 20 clients.
Any switch with 10Gb SFP should work. _________________ Segment 1 XR700 10Gb LAN, 1Gb WAN ISP BS

I see the bonding section in Networking menu has a 802.3ad and presumabley I use that to bond VLAN1 and VLAN2... I'm unsure what settings I should put here it's confusing for a fool like me. There's no guide on the wiki either just a page about what bonding is...

If you search and read netgear forum among other places you can see LAG is not properly supported on stock firmware.
So, ddaniel51 has the better solution. R9000 has a dual Ethernet switch hardware configuration, a headache to deal with.
That's confusing as ports 1 and 2 have markings which say "aggregation" and it's sighted as a feature in the documentation...
VLAN, switch ports, Link aggregation not DDWRT supported on R9000 due to a dual switch headache....
was mentioned on those posts above...as well a solution to it...kind of...
Otherwise feel free to go back to stock firmware...
if you want to ask, what all those DDWRT settings do, it feels like me seen a huge Mackie (studio sound mixer) for first time.... _________________ Atheros

This makes more sense now, I was confused at the issue before. I'd have considered stock firmware but I need wireguard compatibility so here I am! I will have to make do without the link aggregation.
Had it indeed been a Mackie mixer I would have been able to work it out much more easily!!!
Thanks for all the responses to help me understand.

I'm sure you meant Mackie*. Nothing like a Trident or Neve, though. I still don't think digital boards will ever truly touch the sonic quality of the old school analog consoles, ever. /off-topic _________________ "Life is but a fleeting moment, a vapor that vanishes quickly; All is vanity"

Just out of curiosity, what did you want to LAG to? _________________ Segment 1 XR700 10Gb LAN, 1Gb WAN ISP BS
