Hello,
I wish I could flash my WR940N v6 US. I love DDWRT firmwares.
I looked up at the download database and learned that v6 of TPlink WR940N is unfortunately not suppprted. This was sad.
However I further came to know that a beta build is aviable for the same mentioned model in the most recent beta release.
So does this mean I can flash my 940N v6 without breaking it? Or does this mean there is no hope to be able to use opensource firmware on my router :(
I have used ddwrt before. I love privacy features and regular security patches that the opensource firmware offers on regular intervals. Please let me know if there is any way I can use ddwrt on my router model without getting it bricked.
Sorry if this has been covered before, but why exactly don't they just get rid of the database altogether if it's full of outdated and officially unsupported firmware?
Are there plans to update it and get it useful again, and if so, why not put up an interim maintenance page until such is done?
With as many new people that find the database first and just make questions about it, I don't see why something hasn't been done at this point.

The general consensus requirements to update the database:
1) stable build for all supported devices
2) which includes the latest security patches for included packages
44715 is from last year, and an agreed upon recent stable build, however,
we need one that is newer that is stable across the board, without issue.
If you've been following the build release threads, then you can see where
the challenges are.
The router database maintenance is a constantly evolving situation that
is not under any forum member or forum moderator control. All we can do
is provide input. That decision lies elsewhere. In other words, I feel your
pain, but it is what it is. _________________ "Life is but a fleeting moment, a vapor that vanishes quickly; All is vanity"
