post iw phy phy0 info and iw phy phy1 info output from console. a common problem with mediatek routers are swapped wireless cards. so the 5 ghz card is a 2.4 ghz card in reality and vice versa. i need to figure that out to correct it if thats the case

Here is the result of the console. Did I need some special preset?

Is it possible to go back factory firmware with this router? To find out if the 2.4GHz WiFi is working back or if the chip is just broken.
Cause I'm trying to install the factory firmware, R6220_v1014_101.img from netgear website, with the webgui but after the router reboot it's still on DD-WRT. Even with hard reset before and after update.
Any idea?

You may have to TFTP it or use nmrpflash.

It didn't work with the TFTP method but it got the job done with nmrpflash. And the 2.4GHz WiFi is working back again.

So apparently there something wrong with DD-WRT on this router, cause on DD-WRT firmware I've tinkered with every setting I could, to get the 2.4GHz Wifi working but no luck (even if I was detecting it like only above the chip).

And it seems like phy0 contains 2.4G and 5G WiFi band instead of phy0 containing 2.4G and phy1 the 5G like it suppose to be, so I only get to edit settings for only one band because I can only select one channel between 1-13 and 36-165 in the same slider.

I'm considering using a TL-MR3020 router instead, cause it's more convenient for a WiFi IoT hotspot. In your opinion, is it a better idea?

Only thing I know is this is the last reported version to successfully flash to that router:

https://download1.dd-wrt.com/dd-wrtv2/downloads/betas/2020/07-03-2020-r43652/tplink_tl-mr3020/

But you may wish to work your way forward to a more recent build, with the only caveat being is you will need to know how to recover it if it bricks.

Personally, I would wait for an upcoming public beta release for this router as there has been more tweaks done specifically for this device in the development commits.

i mean i modified some code in the last build to usually cover the 2.4 issue. so its not okay if you just go another way now. its not helpfull since it does not allow me to fix that problem

the console output shows that there is no second card detected. maybe another driver is missing. need to check this. instead it show the only single card as 2.4 and 5 ghz dual band. this is very curious
can you post "cat /proc/bus/pci" ?

Back again,

No worries, I'm not going to throw it away, I'll still help you out to find the issue with the firmware. Moreover, it will not only help me, but everyone else that have this router.

I've updated it to the latest firmware and it did not change anything with the 2.4 WiFi and I did the command "cat /proc/bus/pci" trough Telnet but it gave me nothing back...

BTW: The WiFi is fine on OpenWRT too

I've tried something else, I don't know if this is what you're looking for with this command

I update it with the firmware you sent but there appears to be another error, I can't be assigned an IP therefore I can't connect to the web GUI.
So I included a serial console log to let you see what's going on
