Advice appreciated please.
My router suddenly stopped giving me a UK IP - from French location (only the local IP) after 3 years.
I have made no mods.
I want to check the existing startup script, but I cant remember the Command Shell Command which might do this.
Or where to locate it.
I am running Firmware: DD-WRT v3.0-r33772 vpn (11/16/17)
Can anyone advise please? I want to be careful not to erase the existing script.
What could have caused it to suddenly fail?
regards D

Your question is about an OpenVPN client which is not working I assume.

OpenVPN client to a commercial provider? If so which one?
If not to where is it connecting ?

OpenVPN is located under Services/VPN, startup scripts under Administration/Commands

Thanks egc for quick reply!
I am OK with getting to the Command area, but I seem to remember there is a command to run which brings up the startup script. Maybe I am wrong.
I just want to view the existing startup to try to help me to find why the DDWRT router stopped giving me the required remote IP. I can't find the original setup instructions online

I am just a normal guy, trying to watch UK media from France, not commercial.
I set up DD-WRT v3.0-r33772 vpn (11/16/17) 3 years ago.
Instead of connecting to a UK IP it just gives me a local French IP

The startup script is under Administration/Commands in the GUI but normally you do not use the startup script to setup OpenVPN (on this old build it might be used for setting username/password)

and yes you can view the startup script from the CLI with:
cat /tmp/.rc_startup

I assume this is setup to a commercial provider, maybe your subscription ended?

It is amazing that this old router is powerful enough to watch TV via VPN and more amazing that the BBC does not block you, VPN's are actively blocked by the BBC.

Hi egc, thanks again. I misunderstood.
I am using a long term and very supportive VPN provider.
They gave me all the original scripts 3 years ago.

They respond rapidly, and suggested changing the UK Server IP (the original was OK they said) , but this did not help. But now they want me to change every script, which I can do, but I still feel there has to be a simplish reason why the DDWRT suddenly stopped.
I am trying to find this.
This old router gives me 4MB/S.
I use a SmartDNS on a TP-link router for most of my streaming from the UK - it is accepted by Iplayer, All4, NowTV etc.

The DDWRT is more of a backup

Will follow your advice re cat /tmp/.rc_startup

All the best for Christmas and the New Year! - D
